One of the biggest misconceptions about dysautonomia is that it's simply a heart rate or blood pressure problem.
The reality is much more complex.
The autonomic nervous system helps regulate hundreds of functions throughout the body, including:
• Heart rate
• Blood pressure
• Breathing
• Digestion
• Temperature regulation
• Sleep
• Bladder function
• Sweating
• Energy levels
• Stress responses
When this system becomes dysregulated, symptoms can show up almost anywhere in the body.
This is why people with dysautonomia often experience a wide range of symptoms that can seem unrelated — and why diagnosis can sometimes take so long.
Understanding dysautonomia starts with understanding that it's not "just" one symptom.
💙 The symptoms are real. The condition is real. And so is the impact it can have on daily life.

Have you ever heard of dysautonomia?
Most people haven't.
Dysautonomia is an umbrella term for conditions that affect the autonomic nervous system — the system responsible for many of the body's automatic functions, including heart rate, blood pressure, breathing, digestion, temperature regulation, and more.
When this system isn't functioning properly, symptoms can seem confusing, unpredictable, and often invisible to others.
People living with dysautonomia may experience:
• Dizziness or lightheadedness
• Fatigue
• Brain fog
• Heart palpitations
• Exercise intolerance
• Temperature regulation issues
• Digestive symptoms
• Difficulty standing for long periods
Because symptoms can vary from person to person, many people spend years searching for answers before receiving a diagnosis.
Understanding is the first step.
💙 If you or someone you know is living with dysautonomia, know that your symptoms are real, your experience is valid, and support is available.

"Have you tried getting more sleep?"
"Maybe you need to exercise more."
"Everyone gets tired."
For people living with chronic fatigue, these comments can be frustrating and isolating.
Chronic fatigue isn't simply feeling tired after a busy week. It's a complex condition that can affect every part of daily life — work, family, exercise, social activities, and even basic tasks many people take for granted.
What others may not see is the effort it takes just to get through the day.
If you live with chronic fatigue, know that your experience is real, your symptoms are valid, and you deserve to be heard.
💙 Be kind. Be patient. Believe people when they tell you they're struggling.
Things that are harder than they should be when you have POTS.
Standing in a queue.
Having a shower.
Filling the dishawasher.
Walking up stairs.
Doing the groceries.
Getting through a workday.
Even just getting out of bed.
Individually they may seem small, but when they happen day after day, they add up — and it can be exhausting.
POTS is more than just feeling dizzy. It can affect every part of daily life, often in ways that others can't see.
If you're living with POTS or dysautonomia, know that you're not alone. 💙
