We often get asked how to make the best tasting coffee at home. Here are some tips, and you’re welcome to pop into the roastery and ask us for more!

Grinding - Double shot size will depend on the basket size but generally most double shot baskets will hold 18 to 20g of ground coffee. We weigh ours at 19g.

Make sure you tamp it nice and firm, flat, and clear the basket edge of any loose grinds (otherwise you could get these in your shot – gritty!)

We often get asked how to make the best tasting coffee at home. Here are some tips, and you’re welcome to pop into the roastery and ask us for more!

Extracting - We aim for a 2:1 extraction so the shot should weigh roughly double the amount of the grinds. So if you put 19 grams in you will get 38 grams out. The shot should pour in 25-30 seconds.

If it is pouring too fast try adjusting the grind finer, if too slow it needs to be coarser – don’t be scared to adjust your grinder!
