folia
~ Helping nature reclaim the world ~ Most people are unaware of the size and depth of issues involving environmental sustainability in the floral industry.
There is growing concern for the long term impact on ecosystems surrounding flower farms, the treatment of workers, the potential abuse of energy usage and lack of sustainable crop production methods. In floristry, sustainable design is just approaching the horizon and unfortunately, is not practiced by most designers. Because floral design is driven by aesthetics and cost, sustainable practices are not yet perceived to be a mainstream consumer demand. Folia is going to change that.

It’s the end of an era.
When we farewell those we loved, who were special or significant or influenial, or important or whatever it might be… we are able to take the time to reflect on their impact.
What is respect?
What is impact ?
What impact does showing ours respect to a person have to the mother of all living beings?
Flowers - are for the bees and pollinators- they create the seeds of more life when connected within the cycle with their offerings ..
They are organic matter and carry on as both new life and death… part of a cycle - that we belong to, but choose to dominate and corrupt.
Maybe it’s time to stop, not only removing forms of life from their purpose for our own, but then also, further immortalising that which can feed more life in pretty coloured plastic wrap to just die for nothing - but a display of respect -destined for landfill.
The flowers will be Moved regularly to the park this time ..
but then what?
We don’t see the mess. - that’s all I guess
