This marks a new chapter in my life 🇼🇸

My journey with my culture has been filled with both love and belonging, but also moments of shame, self-doubt, and questioning whether I was “Samoan enough.”

Growing up, words like “plastic” and not knowing the language could make you question your identity. Some of that noise came from others, and some of it came from within. Through it all, my family constantly reminded me of one thing: I am Samoan, and I have always been enough.

Today, I was bestowed the matai title of Vaovasatoa by my family and village of Salailua, Savai’i.

For me, this is not a destination—it’s the beginning of a deeper journey to better understand my culture, my responsibilities, and who I am. It is also a commitment to continue serving my community, because a title means little without service.

I am proud to carry the lineage of those who came before me, and I am excited to share my first long-form piece of content documenting this next chapter as a matai.

I am a proud Samoan-Fijian, born and raised in Aotearoa, from the HOMEOF THE CHAMPIONS 275 Māngere , carrying the stories, sacrifices, and strength of those who came before me.

This title is not just an honour—it is a responsibility. A responsibility to serve, to learn, to lead with humility, and to continue giving back to the communities that have shaped me.
