The School of ECE has been transforming lives for over 3 decades- both for our graduates going into their careers, and for the tamariki and whānau they work with. We reckon that's well worth celebrating!
Te Ara o Wairaka Celebration, held on Wednesday for Bachelor of Teaching alumni was designed to do just that.
The night was particularly special as it's part of Unitec's 50th anniversary celebrations. It brought together graduates from across the decades to reflect on their journeys and reconnect with their former lecturers and classmates.

This week we've been celebrating Samoan Language Week with special events at both our Mt Albert and Waitākere campuses. Staff and students shared language, culture and traditions through engaging activities- and of course, yummy meaʻai (food) while reflecting on this year's theme: "‘E afua mai i mauga tetele manuia o le ‘nu’u" – "From the high mountains are the blessings of the village."

Faamalo to our alumna Beatrice Faumuina, who has been appointed a Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit (CNZM) in the King's Birthday honours for services to sport and governance!
She graduated from Unitec with a Bachelor of Business Studies in 2012, and our Gold Lecture Theatre on Mt Albert campus is named after her.
Also in the list of birthday honours recipients are former kaimahi and Unitec alumna Sandra Thompson (Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to governance, education and children), and current MIT and Unitec council member Professor Sharon Brownie (Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to health and nursing education). Congratulations to all three!
