Im now a Certified Paediatric Microbiome Clinician š¶š½āØ
This area of study has been a meaningful extension of my work, reinforcing something I see frequently in practice: infants and children are not just āsmall adults,ā especially when it comes to the gut.
Paediatric microbiome results require a different lens of interpretation, as many adult markers donāt translate directly to children. And understanding these differences helps to ensure all treatment interventions are age-appropriate, works in harmony with their developing microbiome and most importantly - SAFE.
Im really looking forward to bringing this into practice, especially with my little eczema clients (we know how important the gut-skin-immune axis is here!)

C-section births can shape a babyās microbiome in the early days, but this is simply a different starting point, not an un-fixable problem.
Your babyās gut is incredibly adaptable.
Itās constantly developing, responding and evolving based on their environment, nutrition and care š
Which means we have a beautiful opportunity to support their gut microbiome, immune system and overall health moving forward.
⨠If youād like safe, personalised support for your babyās gut or skin, you can book a discovery call via the link in my bio.
If youāve ever felt rushed in an appointmentā¦youāre not alone.
Your symptoms have a story and it takes time to understand it.
This is why my initial consults are 90mins - so we can look at the full picture, not just a small piece of it.
⨠Real change starts here

Thatās me! šš As you can see Iāve loved plants for a long time. The ones I use now do look a little bit different, but deep down in still a herb girl at heart š I think little me would have been stoaked to know I end up mixing herbal āpotionsā that help people feel better.

Has your child's skin ever flared after an infection? You're not alone, as it's a pattern I've often noticed in clinic.
Many parents tell me their child's skin hasn't settled since things like impetigo, fungal rash or scabies - even after they've treated the initial infection.
One possible reason is changes to the skin microbiome.
After infection or antimicrobial treatment, the normal balance of protective microbes on the skin are disrupted. When this happens the skin remains more vulnerable to allergens, itch and inflammation (hello recurring rashes).
So the work shouldn't stop just because a pathogen is cleared, it's important to continue supporting healthy restoration of the skin barrier and natural microbial balance - from the inside and out.

Here are the top 4 moisturisers I most frequently recommend to my clients in clinic š¤
Theyāre all lightweight, generally well-tolerated and effective at hydrating the skin (without feeling heavy or occlusive).
This can be especially helpful for sensitive or eczema-prone skin and during warmer months. Because when products are too thick or overly occlusive, heat increases on the skin surface and creates an ideal environment for microbial overgrowth. For some people, this can further irritate an already sensitive or inflamed skin barrier.
Skin support isnāt about using the richest product, itās about choosing the right level of nourishment for the skin and adjusting appropriately as needs change.
As always, responses are individual and patch testing is important ~ especially for infants and hypersensitive skin.

Iām excited to share that last month I completed advanced training in the G.E.M.M (Gut Ecology & Metabolic Modulation) protocol.
Itās an evidence-based, food-first approach that focuses on restoring healthy communication between the gut, immune and metabolic systems.
I was drawn to GEMM as additional way to support my clients with eczema, allergies and acne - as all of these conditions often involve overlapping gut and immune dysfunction.
What I love is that it takes an upstream, nutrition-focused approach without further extreme dietary restriction or heavy anti-microbial treatments. Itās gentle but powerful!
Iāve already been implementing some of the aspects for myself and partner - so expect to see future posts about our experiences āØ

Youāve got some pimples that wonāt go away, so you overhaul your skincare to the latest acne friendly recommendationās. Things might even get better for a little bit, but then the spots keep returning. Sound familiar???
Itās a common reaction to skin troubles, but we donāt want to just react to a breakout, we want to uncover the tiggers beneath the skins surface.
First we start at the top, the bodyās control centre - the nervous system. Our central nervous system influences the function of all body systems (like gut, immune and hormonal).
Often nurturing our nervous system is ongoing work, but an essential that canāt be overlooked. Once foundational work begins we continue down the hierarchy:
ā¬
Digestive system (as well as other pathways of elimination via liver, kidneys, lungs).
ā¬
Hormones (s*x hormones, insulin, DHEAS, cortisol etc)
āļø Diet & Nutritional repletion **equal importance to hormonal balance
ā¬
Personalised skincare
This is what you can expect working together: A top down, inside out (as-well as outside in) approach that brings your body, and skin, back into homeostasis (harmony) š«¶š»
