Kia ora my paddling whanau!
I know nationals is coming up next week (EXCITING!) so I want to present the opportunity to purchase my Cinco as it can be delivered to nationals for easy collection.

My Cinco a.k.a Ribena is a large K1 in good condition as it's been well looked after. For the last two years she has been cooped up in the garage at home in Wellington barely being used. Ribena is still full of life so I thought she could be put to good use in someones else paddling journey. She is a SCS construction and comes with a boat bag for safe traveling.

$5000 for this beauty.
Direct message me if you are interested, have any questions or want more photos.
Did anyone pick-up a paddle at Blue Lakes? Jantex Gamma L with green shaft tape and stickers on each blade - a white hook and three triangles.
HI there -the times from yesterday's 10km race in Karapiro don't seem to be up. There is a link on the website but it's not working. Thanks
Hey
Could you possibly assist me I have two Vajda Carbon K1’s they are Marathon construction and I would like to sell them both, could you tell me where I should advertise these is there any particular forum that would be best to reach out to other paddlers
I did send you a PM but unfortunately I don’t think you’ve had a chance to reply
Cheers
New Nelo Sete for Sale. On its way to NZ now. One only.
Kiwi Danielle Mckenzie took on the world and won at the ICF Ocean Racing World Championships in France last week... Self funding her trip, using a borrowed surfski to train, intending to learn by following the other athletes, she found herself out front and blew the world away...

Here's a race report with the tactics, insights and the back stories from the 2019 ICF Canoe Ocean Racing World Championships... What a "bloody awesome" race!

Improve your paddling with an inexpensive homemade ergometer. You can see video of it in action at https://diypaddleergometers.wixsite.com/build. You will also have the option of buying detailed plans for $8 Cdn. ($6 U.S.). It’s a great way to own a very functional and affordable piece of training equipment. Being out on the water is always best, but an erg can help with conditioning and technique on the days you can't get out.

Hi. Will the results of the final event yesterday (5km) be up soon? Thanks.
I successfully built a homemade paddle ergometer after looking at the price of new ones. You can see video of it in action at https://diypaddleergometers.wixsite.com/build, that gives you a good idea of how it works. For those that want step by step instructions, you will also have the option of buying detailed plans for $9 Cdn. ($7 U.S.). Wish we were there to cheer you on. We will be in spirit Benny xx

Scott Martlew is back in NZ and offers his reflections on the Tokyo Paralympics following his strong 4th place in the KL2 and A Final showing in the Va’a (waka ama):

“I was proud of my journey to get there and proud of giving it my all. I have mixed feelings about the result, but that’s sport. I left it all out on the water and don’t think I could’ve done anything more on the day.

“MIQ will offer time for reflection and to look back on the journey. We’ll be looking at that and putting together a plan for the upcoming season and through to Paris.”

Paddling at Delta level 2 | CRNZ | Sprint, Surf Ski & Marathon 06/09/2021

Paddling at Delta level 2 | CRNZ | Sprint, Surf Ski & Marathon

At midnight tonight, everywhere in NZ except Auckland will drop down into Alert Level 2, which will be a huge relief to everyone. At level 2, you can do your usual sport and recreation activities, if you can do them safely, so there will be much more freedom to paddle normally.

There are still restrictions, which will be tighter than previously due to the increased transmissibility of the Delta variant. It is important that all paddlers and clubs adhere to these restrictions so all of NZ can get back to L1.

Paddling at Delta level 2:

You may paddle with other people outside of your bubble. Try to maintain social distancing of 2m and someone should keep a record of the people you’re with.

Club paddling, training and events are able to resume.
-These must be limited to 100 people outdoors, or 50 people indoors. The 100-person limit includes paddlers and spectators. Officials are not included in the limit.
-At events and gatherings, ensure everyone records their presence via the NZ Covid Tracer App or manual record keeping. This is a requirement.
-Travel between regions is allowed at level 2 but not, of course, to Auckland.
-Ensure good washing of shared equipment.

You must wear a mask/face covering inside public venues such as clubs, apart from to eat and drink. Social distancing of 2metres must be maintained indoors.

When paddling, consider being extra safety conscious and risk averse.
-Try to paddle with a buddy.
-Tell someone where you are going and when you will be back.
-Wear a PFD, take a phone and other safety equipment such as a flare/EPIRB.
-Paddle within your limits, considering conditions, route and equipment.

Follow safe hygiene practices
-Regular cleaning of facilities and common use surfaces eg doorknobs to storage facilities.
-Regular washing and drying of hands. Ensure there is plenty of sanitising/hand washing facilities at venues.
-Do not go out if you are feeling unwell or experiencing symptoms of Covid 19.

Auckland remains at Alert Level 4, where paddling is not allowed.

There are a few upcoming CRNZ events such as 10km National Championships and Blue Lakes 1. Discussions are currently being held and decisions regarding these events will be announced shortly.

Stay safe and have fun!

Paralympic debutant Corbin Hart has had a moment to reflect on his Tokyo experience and shared his thoughts with us: “I learned more here in the last two days than I learned in my whole schooling career. It’s been wicked, surreal, unbelievable - all the things. It’s been tough, but awesome being here with Scott and Leigh.

“I look forward to the future with my training partner Aimee and Gav (Elmiger)…. Massive shoutout to Aimee and the work she’s put in with me over the last year. She’s been there for me while I’ve been over here so I’m looking forward to supporting her when she races Worlds in a couple of weeks.”

Impressive effort by Corbin Hart at his first Paralympic games, in just his second international event (his first was when he qualified his spot back in May). It has been a spectacular and whirlwind journey for Corbin, who first sat in a kayak just over a year ago. What an achievement!

Paddling at Covid Alert Level 3 | CRNZ | Sprint, Surf Ski & Marathon

It is almost time to paddle!
From 11:59pm tonight, all areas south of Auckland will move to Alert Level 3, which means paddlers in these areas are able to get out on the water. However, there are some restrictions which are very important to follow, especially with the more transmissible delta variant.
Remember:
- Paddling must be done alone or within your bubble. You are able to take a short trip in your car to go paddling.
- Exercise caution to keep yourself safe and ensure you do not need to engage the assistance of others. Stay within 200m of shore, wear a personal flotation device (or at least take an airbag in kayaks), and ideally if paddling alone, take a member of your bubble along with you to keep an eye on you.
- Paddle well within your limits.
- Clubs must remain closed, this includes boat storage facilities.
- In-person coaching is not allowed.
- Wear a face covering before and after your paddle while out in public.
- Do not go if you are experiencing any symptoms of covid (Isolate and get a test.)

Enjoy getting back out there but please do so safely!
Aucklanders and Northlanders have to wait a bit longer until they can get wet- Kia kaha, stay strong.

Unfortunately, the Poor Knights Crossing 2021 has been canceled. Thanks to Race director Tim Eves for his efforts in trying to make this happen and we are gutted that this race has been affected by Covid for the 2nd year in a row. All entrants should have received an email regarding refunds. Heads up whanau...we'll be back out on the ocean blue soon.
