Day 4 (Friday) we had 4 on the cards but unfortunately John fell sick the day before and was much worse today. He dressed and tried to get in the zone for his semifinal but it just wasn't to be. I had to make a tough call to pull him out from a major tournament. Keep your chin up John, there's more to come 👊

We had 3 challenge matches for Tommy, Antonio, and Alecko.

Tommy's performance improved on yesterday's however it wasn't enough to convince the judges. So proud of you Tommy for taking the last minute match regardless 🥊🥊

Antonio was next looking to back up his finals win with another good performance. He handled the mix-up at weigh-in well, stayed focused and put on a very strong performance stopping his less experienced opponent. Big thank you to Blake Hutchinson and the team from Rivas Brothers Boxing! 🥊🥊

Alecko rounded our day off with a very determined effort against the newly crowned 2026 85kg Youth QLD Golden Gloves Champion, just coming up short this time but gaining so much experience from it. Well done Leka 👏👏🥊🥊

We did have another challenge match planned for Jireh tomorrow (Saturday) but unfortunately his opponent suffered an injury and was unable to compete.

We had 2 on today, Tommy and Jireh. Tommy fought for gold in his finals bout against an old foe from NZ now residing in Brisbane. It was anticipated to be a very tough fight and it was exactly that. Unfortunately we came up short, going down by split decision, but we're all so very proud of you Tommy 👏👏🥊🥊 Thank you Jason Tanoa and Mayhem Boxing Brisbane.

Jireh was our last for today, taking on the newly crowned 2026 90kg+ Youth QLD Golden Gloves Champion, Lokeni Leutele. It was a Challenge Match as there were no opponents in Jireh's category. A rusty performance but as always fought with a lot of grit and determination. We didn't get the win but it was great just to get a fight. Big thank you to Naomi Eunson for giving us the opportunity 🙏🙏

First 3 results from Queensland Golden Gloves. Lorielle and Ryteous both had their finals unfortunately coming away short of victory but super proud of them for how they handled their first international experience. Antonio's final was next and he was up against a local Brisbane boy. It was a very challenging bout, but couldn't be more proud of how focused, disciplined, and courageous Antonio fought, coming away with the win and now the 2026 Cadet 42kg Queensland Golden Gloves Champion! 👏👏🥊🥊
