Shore Junction is an innovative youth initiative designed to provide a safe space for young people to connect, belong, collaborate, learn, innovate and realise their potential. To achieve this, a range of programmes, events, services and activities (‘content’) will be offered through Shore Junction. This content has been designed around five ‘pillars’ or subject areas:

1. Science, Maths & Enginee

It is Youth Week this week!
Youth Week is a chance to amplify the things you care about, showcase what you're building, and connect with others who are doing the same.

There is a whole bunch of amazing youth lead events happening - including an event here at SJ! The other Youth Week events on throughout the country are listed on the Ara Taiohi - Peak Body for Youth Development website.

Tomorrow YEG (our Youth Engagement Group) are hosting an open mic night.
Poetry, songs, speeches, prose, comedy… the space is yours.

𝟮𝟬 𝗠𝗔𝗬 | 𝟲𝗣𝗠 - 𝟴𝗣𝗠 (𝗶𝘀𝗵)
𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗼:
• We’ll have a simple mic setup, perfect for acoustic performances. If you’ve got a backing track or electric guitar, we can plug that in too. We won’t have a full backline or drum kit set up for this one.
• You’re welcome to share original material, but it doesn’t have to be - whatever feels authentic to you. We just ask that you’re mindful of the context and audience of the event when choosing what to perform. If you’re unsure about anything (like if the theme of your piece might be too mature), feel free to flick us a DM and we can kōrero.
• All experience levels are welcome, including first-timers.
• Sign-ups will happen on the night, and we'll run sign-ups throughout.
Flick us a message with any questions!

We pass it all the time, but this Anzac Day is a good reminder to pause and reflect. We have a beautiful memorial right here in the SJ foyer commemorating those that served. As our building was once the RSA, many of the names are local, some of them young people themselves at their time of service.

Lest we forget
