Election day isn't the finish line. It's a milestone. 🏁

The organisations that create lasting change use the election period to:

→ Clarify priorities and strengthen relationships

→ Prepare clear asks ready for Day 1 of the new term

→ Plan for different election outcomes, not just the one they're hoping for

→ Turn campaign promises into accountability

That's Step 5, and the final step in our Election Readiness Guide. Link in bio to read the full series. 📩

Te Pāhuatanga o Parihaka | 5 November
Today we honour the people of Parihaka, who met violence with peace, and injustice with unity.
On 5 November 1881, 1,600 troops invaded Parihaka, where 2,000 peaceful residents met them with song, kai and water. The soldiers responded with violence, arresting leaders Te Whiti and Tohu and destroying the village.
Rather than marking 5 November as Guy Fawkes Day, we should remember Parihaka and honour our own history and the powerful movement of non-violent resistance born here in Aotearoa.

Why the October 23 mega-strike matters for all of us
Thursday, thousands of teachers, nurses, and health workers will come together in a rare show of unity, standing up for fair pay, safe staffing, and properly resourced public services.
This strike is about care, dignity, and the wellbeing of Aotearoa.

When those who teach, heal, and support us are stretched beyond their limits, we all feel the strain.

We’re proud to share that Zenaida Beatson will be speaking at .design.conference 2025 this June in Brisbane.

Her talk invites designers to think differently about where creativity begins, who it’s for, and how it can shift power — not just reflect it. Drawing on For Purpose’s work alongside communities across Aotearoa, Australia and beyond, Zenaida will explore how collaborative design can centre dignity, agency and imagination.

Join her on 18 June in Brisbane. Link in bio
