I decided to put some last minute entries into the Asia Pacific Photography Awards, it’s a new one for me, I’ve never entered them before but it was well worthwhile. I’m thrilled to be a top 20 finalist in both the Nature and Landscape categories, especially looking at all of the other finalists imagery, some really stunning work presented across all categories. Judge Spotlight: Rachael Smith 🇳🇿

Rachael Smith is a photographic artist based in Aotearoa New Zealand, known for her passion for visual storytelling, print, and education.
With a Master of Fine Arts and over a decade of judging experience at regional, national, and international levels, Rachael brings a balance of technical understanding and creative empathy to every critique. Her work blends concept and craft, often exploring the tension between memory and environment.

Rachael is a Master with the NZIPP, an Ilford Master and Certified Printer, and currently serves as President of the New Zealand Institute of Professional Photography. Her accolades include selection as part of Team NZ for the 2024 World Photographic Cup in the Reportage/Photojournalism category.

We are excited to have Rachael join us this year to be part of the 2025 Australian Photographic Prize judging panel!
