Oratia Playgroup - Community

Next week is our final week of playgroup for Term 2!

To celebrate an awesome term, and also to mark Matariki, we will be having a shared morning tea each day. Please feel free to bring any extended whānau to join our Matariki morning tea 💫

This week at playgroup we experienced our first bit of a rain that we have had in a long time ☔️ But, a little bit of rain doesn’t dull our spirits at Oratia Playgroup! In fact, I think it made our tamariki even more creative and innovative.

Indoors, the playdough became dirt, rocks and soil for our miniature dump trucks, loaders and diggers; the magnets became zoo enclosures and large towers and the pom poms became tea, coffee and muffins to be served to caregivers.

When tamariki were ready for some fresh air, under our large umbrella was transformed into an industrious cafe. And when the rain stopped, the yellow zoom slide used up any remaining energy!

Oh what fun we are having at Oratia Playgroup this term!

Inside our hall, tamariki have been busy working on craft projects, figuring out puzzles, driving monster trucks and constructing with magnets and hammers and nails.

Outside, the playground has been buzzing with activity as always. Tamariki have been challenging themselves on the yellow zoom slide, swinging high on the swings, creating cafes and shops in the playhouse and cooking up treats in the mud kitchen.

If you want your child to experience the joy of Oratia Playgroup, please just pop along to one of our sessions. We are open on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday during the school terms. First visit is free and then it’s just $5 for a session.

What a fabulous start to Term 2! The sun was shining (mostly) and the vibes were high 😎

Our tamariki were blown away by our new playhouse, which invited so much creative and imaginative play 🏠

The sandpit was bustling with construction and the playground was busy with movement and laughter.

Inside, our new magnetic tiles were made into towers, houses and zoos.
