Wordpress isn't less secure than other sites, it's just popular and therefore is a good target. Make sure your username isn't 'admin' and make sure your password isn't easy to guess! Uppercase letters, numbers and even punctuation.

Is WordPress Secure? You have no doubt heard about it -- the latest WordPress security scare has been publicized everywhere from the BBC, to NBC, to Technorati. A giant botnet made up of "tens of thousands" of computers has attacked an enormous number of vulnerable WordPress websites.
A database issue overnight has taken down a couple of Wordpress websites on Creative Collective hosting. A technician is looking in to this urgently! Apologies for the unfortunate news first thing in the morning!
