Hi,

Im Paul from PaulyMade. Im a retired and proud Grandad to our first grandson Leo. I spend several hours most days working in my workshop building bespoke items for sale. It seems to keep me happy and out of the way.

When I was much much younger and expecting our first of what was to be 3 sons, I was chatting to my own grandfather (shortly before he passed) in his woodworking shop behind his house and he reached up to a wood chip and dust covered shelf and handed me the plywood pattern for a toddlers upholstered chair, adding that he had made some chairs for his first kids and they had been passed down through his family as it grew. He then told me I seemed to have a love of making things from wood and that I should make a chair for our soon to arrive first child. It took me nearly a year to get around to making it, Alison (my better half) then made a beautiful upholstery to cover the seat. It turned out to be a hit with our son putting his stamp of ownership on it from the very first.

So flash forward 38 years, (a full 38) and with my first grandson arriving on the scene, and a few workshops later I went digging to see if I could find the pattern again. Sure enough on a top shelf covered in workshop dust I located it and got to work.

The word spread and I'm now producing a couple of sets per week for other kids who seem to get as much joy from using them as I do from making them.

I am currently selling the chair for 235.00 and the table for 155.00 to cover the materials and a bit to help keep the workshop lights on, Alison still makes the upholstery covers and seat backs and now has about 10 different patterns to choose from.
