Snow Reindeer didn’t just appear, it was built (snow) brick by brick❄️

Back in December 2025, SRD began through our Easy Beats programme with Rueben and Leon alongside facilitators Ignacio “Nacho” and VK, starting with a simple idea, create a band, an EP and a story to go with it.

In just a few sessions, SRD had a name, a logo and its first tracks taking shape 🎛️ (and merchandise!)

Since then, the group has grown, with more participants joining the journey and Jackson coming on board as a facilitator. The studio’s stayed busy ever since, with beats being built, ideas looping, layering and sampling, sounds getting chopped, stretched and fine-tuned, and the SRD sound continuing to evolve.

One of our recent releases was featured on George FM on DJ Grant Marshall 's Saturday morning show, a huge milestone for the whole band, Media Lab and of course Spectrum Care 📻

This video captures one of the very first SRD tracks, raw, experimental and full of the energy that started it all. Because after all, as much as we always encourage our participants to celebrate their wins, we also want to encourage our participants to remember what started it all.

The year is almost finished but we still keep pumping catchy beats at Easy beats studio 🥁 🎹
Yesterday came for a piano lesson and he learned a song he has been trying to play for a while... But the real magic started happening when we set up an arpeggiator on the MPC in sync with the beats of the JDxi.
Jordan was on point with the rhythm, playing a groovy melody based on pure intuition and flow.

After we finish the session we reflected on how good it felt to create music even without music theory knowledge.

What matters the most is our passion for what we do and the energy we feel every time we press a key (or a button)

Easybeats has a new project developing, and its name is SRD. This is a short video showing how we performed the stems with which we are creating the very first song of the group.

Today it was almost about teamwork performance! All of us joined forces to recreate a famous Gorillaz song called Dare.
Alex programmed the Bass line and played the voice. Jackson was the beatmaster, Andrew played colorful arpeggio and Ewan did the catchy melodies.
Everything is possible when we play together 🎶

We have a wide variety of fun tools to create delicious groovy beats.
This morning a couple of participants from Kumeu were playing some Techno with the Roland Aira sequencers we have here. 🎶 🎵

Still buzzy from today's table jam session featuring , Reuben and Nacho! We ended up listening what we recorded and all of us were feeling high spirited after the session.
