Taking Textiles Further

Stand at the Knitting and Stitching Show in London is all set up, essential supplies purchased. Ready to go. Just saying Viv Arthur , Red bull and cake consumed on the drive in! Why change the habit of a lifetime.
If you are visiting the show, come to find my little stand at D20 from 9 to 12 October, amongst all the other goodies and exhibitions.

Even more mad bark designs and plays with reclaimed metals, papers and fabrics, today with South Coast Textiles. Well done all, and I look forward to seeing the pieces again when they have had their stitching and final embellishments added.

We were Barking Mad at Txstyle10 yesterday. Exploding reclaimed metals with papers, velvets and silks. The theme for most was the amazing variety of patterns seen in tree bark.

We are 3 days into the 5 day at 'artandyou' event in beautiful Nelson, NZ. The plan has been to work through observation, instinctively drawn forms, translucent layered surfaces, bonding and burning (well why wouldn't you?). After 2 and a half days we began to consider how we might create amazing, wild, unusual forms from our individual starting points. What fabulous ideas came from the thinking time this afternoon. The next two days will be spent starting that journey, without any expectation of there being time to complete a work, but to begin the building blocks for future projects.

Today I took part in a fabulous event , their annual art for Well Being day. So many interesting activities were on offer, giving quick dips into new creative and well being ideas. My lovely group created bonded fabric backgrounds and got to grips with free motion embroidery. They will finish off with added hand stitch and beads.
I've been reading recent research which definitively proves that creative, artistic activities actually change our brains, for the better, so the chance to take part in this day was much appreciated.

The whole crew at this 'Instinctive Textiles-Draw and Stitch' for were such a pleasure to work with for 3 days.
Work was developed through a mixture of random markings, blind contour drawing, metal fabrics, shrink plastic, heat reactive fibres, a maze book format and lots of individual creativity from .campbell , mia_thurgate, , , , , , , .wu.designs , , , ,
It was fantastic to work with you, I look forward to seeing the development of your ideas and pieces as they happen.
