Are your knives cutting correctly?
Can they slice onion, ginger, and carrots thinly?
How about your scissors? Are they snipping the hair or are they pushing the hair away? Are they cutting wax paper? Are they doing what you want them to do?
Your gardening tools. We're coming up to the season where we're all going to be out there and just clipping and lopping and tidying up the garden .
Sharp Again is a mobile sharpening service. You just text on 0272051558 and we'll make it sharp again
You can leave what needs to be sharpened at your place while you go to work. I can sharpen at your place. I can sharpen at your work. I can sharpen at my workshop. Heck I can even sharpen at the beach while you launch your boat !

This just made my day today !
I love restoring and keeping them purposeful.
Good knives are made to work and with some tlc will stay sharp and keep on going and going.
Everyday as a mobile sharpener I get an opportunity to sharpen, reset, re-profile knives. One of the best things you can do for your everyday kitchen knives is keep them sharp. That doesn't always need me. It needs education. It's a tool and you need that tool to be working 100%. Makes sense, right? Depending on knife construction, type of steel, etc., your knives should only need a professional sharpen once every four months, I'm talking about Domestic Kitchen use . So here are a couple of my Best Tips
1. Try to avoid the dishwasher if you can.
It's not the heat that destroys the steel. It's the chemical reaction with some steels and the chemical cleaners and it's terrible to try and put an edge back on the knife, let alone for you to retain it
2. Steel your knife regularly.
This will realign your edge and keep it in service for a lot longer
3. Hot water, a soapy cloth, and a dry off is the perfect way to look after your knife. Always put it away dry. Don't let it dry if that makes sense.
I will be out and about in your area doing what I do so if you have any knives, cutlery, lawnmower blades, blender blades, gardening equipment, drop me a text on 0272051558 and we can make a time to make this all very easy.
Cheers talk soon, Paul. Sharpagain

Winter Pruning !
Don't dare ask me when and how is the best time to prune... my answer is so different from my long-suffering wife's answer.
Is it winter when the sap is low or is it spring when it wants to grow and you want to show the offending vegetation who's boss ... Or is it summer time when it's finished growing and you can assess accurately how big a haircut you're going to give it?
Like any male it's about critical planning. Do it once, do it right so that you never miss out on a day's fishing because you're pruning twice in one year. Okay?
You will need loppers, pruners and secateurs all within easy reach to take care of any vegetation on your property. Be it a creeper, flower, edible or non-edible, it's just about keeping it in check so your gear has got to be right.
I have found through sharpening a huge amount of secateurs, hedge clippers, loppers are still sharp but people are not using them because they don't work properly . I kind of fell into the routine of checking loppers and pruners and secateurs found that in a lot of cases there were annoying things like the little latch that keeps them closed was not working. They were rusted and stiff to use, especially if you had arthritic fingers or wrists. More often than not they were loose or over-tightened because the nylon washer had been crushed and needed to be lubed. Please don't throw them out. Obviously there are some crap brands, cheap knock-offs, but by and large there are some really good labels out there. If you know what you're doing there are parts available and you can get them up and doing the job again.
I find stripping the tool, cleaning, buffing, lubing, and replacing washes or adding washes in most cases gets the tool working 100%
I carry small items on board so before you book me in for a sharpen, send me a photo of the tool and a description of what it is doing or not doing. I can pick up the part for you if it needs replacing and make it all work again .
With hedge clippers generally they require setting. By that I mean each separate blade is curved to create a set, which means you have a perfect guillotine action sharpening. Resetting an old pair of hedge clippers is quite often all that is required to have them doing the same job, possibly even better than a brand new pair. My cost and the parts are more often way cheaper than going out and buying a new pair like for like. Of late I've been scavenging parts from old pruners, and secateurs and loppers, which I don't usually on-charge as it's about repurposing and keeping costs to a minimum .
If you have secateurs, hedge clippers, loppers, or pruners that you don't want or you think I can help you fix them, please don't chuck them out.
Just call or text me. My number is at the bottom of this post
To circle around again and to keep me out of trouble with the mrs because my place is due for some pruning
Does anybody out there in gardening land know when I should prune my cherry trees? And another tree that's got flowers on it, and another shrub or bush that keeps my window clean with creaky scratch sounds during a windy night .. Please let me know. 😆😎
