β¨οΈπ§ββοΈ Important News π«π§ββοΈ
Fairy Godmother Jo has created and maintained 'FairyWorks' β a village of magical fairy houses at Onekiritea Park in Hobsonville Point for nearly 5 years now ππ°.
It has been a job she has absolutely loved doing for the community. What started as a little project during the first Covid lockdown turned into something much bigger β a source of joy and inspiration for children and adults of all ages.
The time and cost Jo has put into building and repairing the fairy houses has been a significant commitment, and she has decided that it's now time to draw the fairy village chapter to a close. It is time for the fairies to say, βGoodbyeβ π€.
Those of you who visit the fairy houses often will have noticed that some fairies have already "up sticksβ. The few fairies who are left will also be moving on in the next couple of weeks.
New adventures await β¨
While the Hobsonville Fairy Village will no longer be a semi-permanent installation, our FairyWorks social media pages will remain open so you can still enjoy the fairy house photos and stories we have posted. You can also check out the Workshop blog on our website to learn about making your own fairy houses.
If you would like to send a message to the fairies or to Fairy Godmother Jo, please post it in the comments below, DM us, or send us an email at [email protected]
We hope that our fairy followers will continue to find joy in the little things, and always remember that anything is possible π«π

For many children, a trip to the doctor or dentist can be a daunting experience - and the same can be said for a visit to an audiologist π¦».
So hearing aid company Phonak asked Fairy Godmother Jo to build them a magical Fairy Castle as an interactive sensory tool - to make the experience of getting a hearing aid much easier for children and their whΔnau.
The Phonak Fairy Castle is designed to engage the imagination. Each tower representing a different sense, all of which are doorways to our brain. By wearing a hearing aid, children can connect to the sound tower and hear a story read aloud by New Zealand theatre and film actor and director Jennifer Ward-Lealand.
The castle is currently travelling around paediatric hearing clinics in New Zealand to reach as many children as possible!

We began creating fairy houses and putting them in our local park during the first week of New Zealand's Covid-19 lockdown in March 2020. We imagined kids dragging their parents outdoors with them to "see the fairies", which is exactly what they did. Kids would run from one tree to the next with adults struggling to keep up β everyone squatting down to get a closer look! ππ§ββοΈπββοΈπ‘
If you visit Hobsonville Fairy Village you can see for yourself the joy these little creations bring. The delight on young faces will make you smile π.

This colourful pair of fairy wings appeared in Hobsonville Fairy Village over a year ago!
Sadly, one of the wings has been pulled off by goblins ππΏ.
But donβt worry, Fairy Godmother Jo is working hard on creating a sparkly new pair to replace it π§ββοΈπ π©βπ¨π¨, and the Blue Fairy has asked the boisterous goblins to be more careful.
Stay tuned Fairy Followers, as we will let you know once itβs out in the park for you to enjoy! ππ¦
