The clothesline of a weaver 🧡

It might be a dreary old day but it feels great when you have one project completed and the wool for the next already dyed and drying on the line.

Thanks for the super cute review Mel (and Minnie!) 🧡

A warp always looks beautiful sitting in chains ready to be wound onto the loom. This one is 12 meters, or five throw blankets worth.

It's been a minute since I've woven any blankets, I'm looking forward to being back at my big Nitschke loom 🧡

I've been selling so much work lately I can't keep up. Seriously, the last few throw blankets have been sold straight off the loom - and I even sold one that was still wet after wet finishing! OMG! 🙃 It's so fun, but I also seriously need a chance to play catch up!

Sooooo, if you were wondering if I have an Open Day this Sunday (because you wouldn't have seen it advertised), the answer is yes 🧡 The studio is always open on the first Sunday of the month 10am - 4pm, but this month is going to be super low key.

There's not much of my work on the gallery walls but you're welcome to come and keep me company while I put a warp on my huge Nitschke floor loom - and of course the table looms are set up if you want to have a go at weaving yourself and make a cute mug rug to take home.

*In this photo I am winding a warp. The warp is the vertical threads that run from the front to the back of the loom, through which you weave your weft (horizontal threads).

Look, I hate to show off but... how gorgeous does this throw blanket look hanging in this beautiful South Dakota home!

Just stunning ✨

My only question is: how do you not stroke it every time you walk down the hallway?!

Thank you to my lovely customer who took these fabulous photos and was happy for me to share them 🧡

Two of my lovely nephews came and helped me in the studio this weekend!

At my upcoming Learn to Weave workshops we will be using New Zealand made Ashford 4-shaft table looms from Ashford Wheels & Looms, so Maximus and Stirling came to help me get started putting them together.

The boys were a joy to work with and it was actually pretty straight forward with clear instructions and just a few tools. We now have three completed, with just five to go and plenty of time before the first workshop on the 23rd/24th of May!

The workshops are very nearly full for the next three months, so if you were thinking about booking you might want to book today or join my mailing list to be the first to hear about upcoming workshops: https://www.slowwoven.co.nz/workshops
