We are thrilled to welcome Cate Johnson, AidData Summer Fellow in our Kathmandu office. With her unmatched skills in ArcGIS, Geo-coding and data visualization, Cate is here to assist us comprehensively across several programs in open government data, mapping spatial patterns in human trafficking and crowd-sourcing and feedback loop innovations.

Local Interventions Group has launched a mobile app 'Hamro Police' for Metropolitan Police Kathmandu, with technology, talent and resource support from Islington College, a pioneering business and IT College in Kathmandu, and Third Pole Connects Pvt Ltd, a tech start-up with rigour and verve.

Hamro Police smart phone app enables members of the public within Kathmandu Valley to swiftly report GIS coded and time-stamped incidents of crime and report with pictorial and documentary evidence enabling Nepal Police to respond to reports swiftly and efficiently. Current functionalities include reporting incidents; locating nearest police stations; lodging complaints and thanking honest and committed police officers for their service. More features will be added in the near future, and scaling strategy includes improving access to justice for citizens, especially women and vulnerable communities throughout Nepal.

Hamro Police app was launched during a press conference at Metropolitan Police Kathmandu on Sunday 05, July 2015 by Metro Commissioner Bigyan Raj Sharma.
