(क) ‘रोमी’ लेखिएको मिति र ठाउँ।
रोमीको पुस्तक कोरिन्थबाट लेखिएको हो भन्ने प्रमाण नयाँ नियमबाट नै पाउँछौँ। रोमी १५:२५,२६ मा पावलले माकेडोनिया र अखैयाका विश्वासीहरूबाट दान बोकी यरूशलेम जाने इच्छा गर्दछन्। यी दुबै प्रान्तका लागि कोरिन्थ एक महत्वपूर्ण शहर थियो। प्रेरित २४:१७ ले दान यरूशलेम पुगेको पुष्टि गर्दछ। २ कोरिन्थी ८–९ मा यसको सङ्कलनको विषयमा लामो वर्णन छ भने १ कोरिन्थी १६:३,४ र गलाती २:१० मा दान बढाउने कामको छोटकरी फलफूलहरू मात्र।
किंक्रिया (रो १६:१) कोरिन्थको पूर्वी बन्दरगाह थियो। यही शहरको फोबे नामक धर्म-सेविकाले यस पत्रलाई रोम पुर्याएको हुनुपर्छ। गायस (२३ प) को घर कोरिन्थमा थियो भन्ने प्रमाण १ कोरिन्थी १:१४ ले दिन्छ। इरास्तस (रो १६:२३; प्रेरित १९:२२) पनि कोरिन्थमा बस्थ्यो (रति ४:३०)।
यो पत्र कहिले लेखियो भनी बुझ्न यसभित्र र बाहिरका तथ्यहरू हेर्नुपर्छ। रोमी १५:२५ ले पावल यरूशलेम जान तयार भएको बताउँछ। इतिहासकार जोसिफसअनुसार यस समयमा यरूशलेममा अनिकाल परेको थियो। प्रेरित २०:२–३ अनुसार पावलले ग्रीसमा तीन महिना बितायो। यही बेला पावलले रोमीहरूलाई पत्र लेख्यो भन्ने अनुमान छ।
प्रेरित १८:१२ मा गलियोन अखैयाको बडाहाकिम भएको पढ्दछौँ। इतिहासकारहरूअनुसार गलियोनले ५२ ई.स. मा सो पद सम्हालेको हो। पावल गलियोनअघि इन्साफको लागि सो बडाहाकिमकै सेवाको शरणमा लागेको थियो। यस घटनालाई प्रेरित २०:२–३ को कोरिन्थमा पावलको तीन महिने बसाइअघि भएको हो। प्रेरित २० पछि का पावलका अरू भ्रमणहरूलाई ध्यानमा राखी विद्वान्हरूको अनुमानमा रोमीको पत्र ५६ ई.स. तिर लेखियो।
