The lesser adjutant (Leptoptilos javanicus) is a large wading bird in the stork family Ciconiidae. Like other members of its genus, it has a bare neck and head. It is however more closely associated with wetland habitats where it is solitary and is less likely to scavenge than the related greater adjutant. It is a widespread species found from India through Southeast Asia.

The Long-tailed Shrike is a small bird with a fierce reputation. Here are the highlights:
The "Butcher Bird": Because it lacks strong talons, it impales its prey (insects, lizards, and small birds) on thorns or barbed wire to hold it steady while eating or to save it for later.
Vocal Mimic: It is a master of disguise, capable of mimicking other birds, squirrels, and even the sound of a barking puppy.
The "Zorro" Mask: It is easily identified by a thick black stripe across its eyes, giving it a bandit-like appearance.
Fearless Defender: Despite its size, it is incredibly territorial and will dive-bomb much larger animals (and humans) to protect its nest.

Old World sparrows are highly gregarious; they often roost and breed communally and form feeding flocks. Dominance hierarchies can exist within feeding flocks. Old World sparrows are mainly diurnal, but will sometimes feed at night in urban areas to catch insects that are attracted to lights.
