Original Parts and service Getting Started with Neurofeedback and Z-score training. No previous knowledge of neurofeedback is required. How can I prepare?
Newcomers to the field will learn how to do a 4-channel Electroencephalograph (EEG) asessments, interpret BrainMaps and create Z-score training protocols. Online classes convene once each Friday (4 hours in the morning and 4 hours after lunch). Homework assignments between sessions allow students to implement what they are learning. By the end of the workshop most students should be able to create
rudimentary maps, evaluate via symptom assessment software and train with Z-scores. Class will focus on the EEG presentation and corresponding training for disorders such as ADHD, depression, anxiety and headaches. Further information will include traumatic brain injury, seizure disorder and learning disorders. Students will assess and train themselves or a volunteer and the Instructor will be available between sessions to provide individual attention. Students will share screen shots, see power points and answer questions and show the result of homework assignments. BrainMaster software and equipment will be used throughout the course. The book, Getting Started with Neurofeedback will be used during the course. Workshop discounts may be available, please discuss this issue at the time of registration. This course closely follows the curriculum outlined by the Biofeedack Certification International Alliance (BCIA). This course is the first step towards getting board certified in Neurofeedback. All students will receive a certificate of attendance and will be invited to register with BCIA as a candidate for certification. All students will receive 32 BCIA didactic credits, 4 additional credits in ethics are needed and they may be obtained by any typical online ethics course. Students may request up to 28 CEs to maintain their license. To qualify you must be a professional health care provider in your country of origin or you must serve as an EEG-tech or assistant under the supervision of a professional health care provider. Students must have high speed internet minimum 54 mpbs speed, 100 mbps is prefered. USB headsets are superior to telephone connections. Students should purchase and read the book "Getting Started with Neurofeedback." Information on needed EEG equipment & supplies will be provided by instructor. Workshop Information
Target Audience
Our program is designed for international health care professionals. For those in the United States state appropriate certification or licensure includes the following fields: medical doctors, naturopathic doctors as well as psychologists, social workers, counselors, physical/occupational therapists, registered nurses and chiropractors. In some cases credentialed special education teachers and school counselors working in a school environment may also qualify. Others who may not meet the above qualifications; but may also benefit from this training, include graduate students who are supervised in a university setting, as well as the staff of a neurofeedback practice including EEG-techs. Specific questions about certification should be directed to BCIA. Read Part I of the book: Getting Started with Neurofeedback. It will lay the groundwork for the information you will soon be processing and later using in a clinical setting. The practice of neurofeedback has numerous technical terms. Course Purpose
John N Demos, author of Getting Started with Neurofeedback, is the primary presenter. This 9 module BCIA (EEG) accredited workshop is the first step in the certification process—each module is 4-hours long. It has been designed to meet 32 *** of the 36-hours of required learning outlined by BCIA. Workshop covers the foundation and rationale for neurofeedback. You will learn the history of neurotherapy and how it has evolved into present day clinical practice as well as the basics of assessment, treatment planning, and training with neurofeedback equipment. Attendees will be given an understanding of the electrical activity of the brain and how it influences cognition and behavior. Most participants report they are able to create rudimentary Brain Maps and perform basic Z-score training after the workshop. Students will be able to practice skills learned between sessions.**

The participant will be able to:
Record and tabulate the EEG from various International 10-20 locations with EEG biofeedback equipment. Identify the normal EEG by interpreting 2-dimensional graphics. Identify EEG signatures or brain wave patterns that reflect various disorders. Discuss indications and contraindications for therapy in order to identify those who will benefit the most from neurofeedback training. Locate artifacts in the EEG that are caused by scalp muscles and eye movements. Reduce artifacts in the EEG recording. Discuss the application of EEG-biofeedback to various disorders such as ADHD, depression, migraine, anxiety and mild traumatic brain injury with z-score training and single filter designs.
