🌾 𝑴𝒂𝒅𝒉𝒆𝒔𝒉 𝒊𝒔 𝒐𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒌 𝒐𝒇 𝒂 𝑭𝒐𝒐𝒅 𝑪𝒓𝒊𝒔𝒊𝒔 — 𝑳𝒆𝒕’𝒔 𝑩𝒖𝒊𝒍𝒅 𝑹𝒆𝒔𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝑻𝒐𝒈𝒆𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓! 🌾

This year, Madhesh Province has faced one disaster after another.
From severe droughts to devastating floods — farmers have lost nearly everything.

💧 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓: Subsurface irrigation systems dried up, and water resources disappeared.
🌱 Paddy plantations struggled to grow — crops failed to fertilise, and diseases further reduced yields.
🌊 And just when hope was returning, floods swept away the remaining grains during harvest time.

Today, Madhesh stands vulnerable — 𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐟𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐛𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐧, 𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐟𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐟𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧.
Traditional practices, the lack of modern technology, and the absence of adaptive crop systems have exacerbated the crisis.

But together, we can change this. 💪

Let’s invest in 𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞-𝐬𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐚𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞, 𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐬, and 𝐬𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐢𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 to prevent a food shortage that could impact not just Madhesh, but all of Nepal.

𝐇𝐨𝐩𝐞 𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 urgently calls for a unified, data-driven collaboration to mitigate escalating disaster losses in Nepal. The traditional reactive model is failing; we must shift to proactive preparedness and resilience-building.
📊 𝐂𝐑𝐈𝐒𝐈𝐒 𝐒𝐍𝐀𝐏𝐒𝐇𝐎𝐓 (𝐀𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐥 𝟏𝟒 – 𝐎𝐜𝐭 𝟐𝟐, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓)
In just over six months, 𝟒,𝟒𝟔𝟎 disaster incidents have severely impacted 𝟓𝟗,𝟕𝟓𝟑 𝐟𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐬. The human cost is staggering: 𝟑𝟐𝟑 𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐬, 𝟑𝟐 𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝟏,𝟐𝟑𝟑 𝐢𝐧𝐣𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐝.
𝐃𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐬:
𝟏. 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐞: Affected 𝟓𝟏,𝟔𝟒𝟖 𝐟𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐬 (86.44% of total), demanding radical safety reforms.
𝟐. 𝐅𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐝/𝐋𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬𝐥𝐢𝐝𝐞: Affected 4,835 families, highlighting severe climate vulnerability.
𝟐𝟒-𝐇𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐜𝐤 (𝐎𝐜𝐭 𝟐𝟏-𝟐𝟐):
NDRRMA recorded 62 injuries. A shocking 54 were due to animal attacks, signalling a critical human-wildlife conflict that requires immediate, specialised intervention. 6 snake bite cases underscore the need for awareness and accessible anti-venom.
🤝 𝐂𝐀𝐋𝐋 𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐂𝐎𝐋𝐋𝐀𝐁𝐎𝐑𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍: 𝐏𝐀𝐑𝐓𝐍𝐄𝐑 𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐈𝐋𝐈𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐄
We seek to collaborate with organisations and experts in:
• 𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐲 & 𝐈𝐧𝐟𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞: To implement comprehensive fire prevention strategies and build climate-resilient infrastructure against floods and landslides.
• 𝐄𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 & 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡: To deploy specialised teams to address the surge in animal 𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐬 and 𝐬𝐧𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐛𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐬 through awareness, rescue, and health service support.
