Albania Appoints World’s First AI Minister to Oversee Public Procurement
Albania has appointed the world’s first artificial intelligence (AI) minister in a bid to fight corruption. The new minister, named Diela, is not a human but a virtual AI bot.

Prime Minister Edi Rama introduced Diela while unveiling his new cabinet on Thursday. The name “Diela,” which means “Sun” in Albanian, symbolizes transparency and fairness.

Diela will be responsible for managing public procurement, including overseeing government tenders and awarding projects to private companies. Rama said the move is aimed at ensuring transparency and reducing bribery in the
