CLIMATE AND DEFENSE: TWO SIDES OF THE COIN RIGHT NOW

- Maritime Robotics is one of my favourite portfolio companies. They are a perfect example of how climate technology is also security technology. Their vessels replace more polluting conventional vessels, while at the same time being used within offshore wind, monitoring and defence. That creates both climate benefits and increased operational capability.

That is absolutely correct, Siri.

Nysnø Klimainvesteringer lead by CEO Siri M. Kalvig have been valued partners of ours for years. Despite the turbulent times we face—we keep our eyes on the target. That means adapting to the world as it is, ensuring we leave it in a smarter and more sustainable state for future generations in everything we do. The technology we develop and operationalize is just as critical for defense and security operations as it is for civilian ocean industries—and keeping the environment and human risk in mind across all arenas is non-negotiable. Building strategic technology value chains requires patience, risk capital, and a long-term perspective.

SSD 2026

📍 Tallinn, Estonia
📅 10-11 June

We’re heading to Supply Security & Defence Expo (SSD) to showcase to the international and Estonian defence community how autonomy is strengthening maritime operations.

Our colleague Jostein Markussen will take the stage to share insights on how sea drones can help secure coastlines through smarter and more persistent maritime operations. From coastal surveillance and patrol missions to infrastructure protection, sea drones expand operational awareness while keeping operators safely remote from the mission area.

Meet us at Booth F30 (Hall C)! We’re looking forward to connecting with industry partners, defence professionals, and innovators shaping the future of maritime autonomy.

CAPTURING THE FULL HARBOR PICTURE

A world where autonomous systems supervise the harbor while operators monitor the mission from a safe location is no longer a future concept. We demonstrated that at Drammen Havn (Port of Drammen) as part of the SMAUG EU project funded by the EU Horizon Europe programme.

The Mariner Seadrone (USV), equipped with a Kongsberg Maritime multibeam system, mapped the harbor autonomously, while an Elistair Khronos tethered drone provided continuous aerial monitoring, creating one combined operational picture above and below the surface.

The result shows how autonomous systems can improve situational awareness, reduce operational risk, and support smarter protection of critical maritime infrastructure.

OUR ROBOTICS VOYAGE IS EXPANDING – AND WE WANT YOU ON BOARD!

Since our start in the early 2000s, we have faced real challenges and opportunities at sea with a pioneering mindset, resulting in technology that nobody thought was possible to bring to life. We still aspire to this every single day, keeping our entrepreneurial spirit and drive for innovation alive.

As we continue to revolutionize ocean space operations in an increasingly complex and demanding world, our ecosystem of brilliant, passionate, and dedicated humans across all disciplines also grows. New and exciting expertise and opportunities are constantly emerging—and right now, we are looking for YOUR BRILLIANCE to rock one of these roles:

🔸 Sales Manager – Defence
🔸 Bid Manager
🔸 Director of Sales – Ocean Mapping
🔸 Senior SIL / HIL Engineer
🔸 Senior Software QA Engineer
🔸 Frontend Developer (closing soon)
🔸 Senior Network Engineer (closing soon)

AN INSPIRATION TO PROTECT

Nature designed otters to move efficiently through demanding environments. That same mindset inspired the Otter and Otter X Seadrones — autonomous systems built to operate safely and reliably on the water.

But the real otter also reminds us why the ocean matters.

Along the Norwegian coast, otters depend on clean and healthy waters to survive, while pollution and fishing gear remain among the biggest threats to the species.

Autonomous technology can help us better understand, monitor, and protect the ocean space. And sometimes, nature itself is the best reminder of why that work matters.

FRA TRONDHEIM TIL MONGSTAD UTEN MANNSKAP
Over 300 nautiske mil.

SOF WEEK | TAMPA

📍 Florida, US
📅 18-21 May | Booth 1724 (NADIC Pavilion)

At SOF Week, the focus is clear: enabling operations in complex, high-risk environments. This is where autonomous maritime systems make a difference.

Together with Team Norway at the Norwegian-American Defense Industry Council pavilion, we present how our solutions support safer maritime operations through improved situational awareness, reduced risk, and persistent presence at sea. Our systems combine autonomous navigation, modular payloads, and remote operations to support real-world missions.

If you are attending, feel free to stop by and meet the team.

CNE | NORWEGIAN MARITIME SOLUTIONS

📍 Farnborough, UK
📅 19–21 May | Booth B19

We'll be exhibiting at Combined Naval Event (CNE) together with our partners Blueye Robotics and Eelume, showcasing how our technologies work together as a complete solution in real operations.

By combining surface and subsea drones, more of the work can be done remotely — keeping people safe while the robotic systems do the risky job. This is where maritime operations are heading: different capabilities working together.

If you’re attending CNE, feel free to stop by and meet us!
