Children's Games composer: Angélica Castelló
Angélica's piece lets the musicians play—quite literally.
Her works intertwine fragments of life into electroacoustic spells. Angélica's debut album Bestiario (2011) captures abstract narratives woven from personal memories. She is a three-time recipient of the Austrian Federal Ministry for Arts and Culture State Scholarship (2011, 2016, 2021) and received the Outstanding Artist Award from the Austrian State in 2014, i.a.
Come and listen to Angélica's response to Francis Alÿs' films at Ultima Festival on September 12th and 14th at Astrup Fearnley.

Children's Games Composer: Aleksandra Gryka
She hears play as quiet resistance, as connection. Her music lingers where body, environment and imagination blur.
Her music is strongly influenced by natural and theoretical sciences, especially quantum physics. She is also inspired by literature, including science-fiction. Since 2005 she has been writing music for theatres in Warsaw, Wrocław, Toruń, Częstochowa, Koszalin, Szczecin, Zielona Góra, Łódź, Olsztyn and Kraków. In 2012 she won a prize at the 12th Festival of Contemporary Dramatic Art "Rzeczywistość Przedstawiona" ("Constructed Reality") in Zabrze for her music for theatrical production Trash Story directed by Marcin Liber.
Come and listen to Aleksandra's response to Francis Alÿs' films at Ultima Festival on September 12th and 14th at Astrup Fearnley.

Children's Games Composer: Slinckx
His composition builds on a haunting image: children climbing and hurling themselves down dusty slopes of mining waste in Lubumbashi inside of discarded tires.
Pierre develops his own digital electronic instruments in a 'one-man band' perspective (even if he doesn't have any solo project), often rejecting click tracks and pre-recorded tapes. He's currently writing a cycle for Belgian ensemble Fractales using extensively several models of Casio synths. He received the Prix Henri Pousseur (2014), the Prix André Souris (2016) and he was awarded an Octave de la Musique for his album M #1 (2020).
Come and listen to Pierre's response to Francis Alÿs' films at Ultima Oslo Contemporary Music Festival on September 12th and 14th at Astrup Fearnley.

Children's Games komponist: Kim Myhr
September hos Ultima Oslo Contemporary Music Festival hos Astrup Fearnley.

Excited for Ultima Oslo Contemporary Music Festival next week! Meet the four composers responding to Francis Alÿs' Children Games.
Kim Myhr inspires adult listeners to reconnect with the immediacy, rawness, and wonder of childhood.
Pierre Slinckx responds with a fractured echo of “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star”—childhood innocence thrown into stark relief by the weight of the landscape.
Aleksandra Gryka lets the fleeting emotional textures in Alÿs' pictures echo through a distinct collection of instruments.
Angélica Castelló invites unpredictability, accidents and surprise in her score built like a card-game.
The concerts take place on September 12th and 14th at Astrup Fearnley Museet in Oslo.
