Today is the UN Environment Programme's World Environment Day, and we take it as an opportunity to reaffirm Kitron's commitment to reducing its environmental footprint not just through pledges, but through measurable targets and concrete action.

Kitron has committed to reducing its direct location-based operational and energy-related emissions by 30% by 2030 and 50% by 2050, measured against a 2022 baseline. All other indirect emissions across the value chain, measured against a 2024 baseline, are set to be reduced by 15% by 2030 and 25% by 2050. Given their significance, these targets are tracked and reviewed throughout the year to ensure our actions remain aligned with what we pledge to implement.

☀️ From 2024 onwards, energy-efficiency requirements have been integrated into all new equipment and facility investments – an ongoing initiative designed to continuously reduce energy consumption and lower emissions over time. Because at Kitron, sustainability is not a standalone effort; it is embedded in how we invest, operate, and grow.

Today is Global Running Day, and to mark the occasion, we are sharing a story from Kitron US, where a group of colleagues took part in either a 14-mile (~22.5 km) or a 5 km race, completing their respective routes in demanding, rain-soaked conditions 👟

As Kelly Miller, IT Specialist at Kitron US, put it in her LinkedIn post, the idea began a few months ago as a simple conversation. Soon enough, it grew into something more consistent, with early morning runs, shared accountability, mutual encouragement and plenty of miles covered together. Kelly reflected that it was great to see everyone show up, push themselves and cheer for one another.

“There’s something oddly motivating about standing at a starting line in terrible weather with coworkers thinking, ‘Well... I guess we’re all doing this now’,” shared Kelly, completing the race together with the Kitron US team, who stepped outside their comfort zones and committed to a difficult challenge as a group, embodying the spirit of camaraderie.

We are very proud of the Kitron US team for coming together to engage with and overcome the goal, representing the very values that drive Kitron ⭐
