Did you know that Fløyen has its own goats? There are 9 of those Fløyen Boys (or Fløyenguttene), and they are the official vegetation managers of the mountain.
Of course besides keeping the grass in check, they also like posing in pictures! This one was captures by our guide Katarina during a hike.
Do you want to take a hike with one of our guides? You can join "Bergen AboveCity Walk & Funicular to Mount Fløyen" with Norwegian Guide Service! Click here for more: https://norwegianguideservice.no/bergen-above-en/

🌸 Spring in Bergen 🌸
Captured by our guide Katarina at Festplassen, this is one of those magical moments when the city centre transforms into a sea of pink blossoms.
A perfect reminder that you don’t have to go far to experience something truly breathtaking, because sometimes the most beautiful views are right in the heart of the city.
Another lovely contribution from the Norwegian Guide Service photo contest 📸
We’re constantly inspired by how our guides see Bergen through their lens!

The second Photo Contest picture of the year is in!
This beautiful image is taken by Laura, and it's taken while she was guiding the Mostraumen Fjord Cruise to Modalen! This magnificent view truly captures the transition from winter to summer in the fjords.

Happy Constitution Day, Norway!
As arguably the most important day in the Norwegian calendar, it's a flag day and a day off. Norway’s Constitution was unanimously adopted by the National Assembly at Eidsvoll on May 16, 1814, and signed the following day, May 17, 1814.
Even though the constitution was established in 1814, Norway didn’t gain independence until 1905, with the dissolution of the union between Norway and Sweden in 1905.
Today we celebrate Norway's independence through an array of traditions for young and not-so-young! We wear our bunads, the traditional attire of Norway, and we watch the parade. A unique feature in Bergen is the city's many traditional and special "Buekorps" - the traditional drummer brigades.

Today many Norwegians enjoy a day off, as Ascension Day is a public holiday in Norway. This Christian holiday commemorates the belief that Jesus Christ ascended into heaven.
Birds gliding low over the water, mountains still holding on to winter, and fjords stretching endlessly ahead.
Captured beautifully by our guide Laura Dobberke (video credit!)
This is the kind of moment waiting for you on our Bergen Day Trip where city and fjords come together in one unforgettable journey.

The Photo Contest of Norwegian Guide Service has officially begun!
Our guides are invited to participate with the photos they take during their tours with NGS through the season of 2026.
This first photo is taken by Marika, and it's of course the iconic Stegastein viewpoint. She took this picture while guiding in Flåm on a lovely day!

Today we celebrate Liberation Day in Norway. Although it is not a public holiday, 8 May is a national flag day, marking the end of Norway’s occupation during World War II in 1945.

This is not just a photo from the alleys of Bryggen.
The people you see here are our trainers, alongside Gaia (our Guide Manager), and a small group of future guides taking their final exam. Passing this exam means they are ready to lead walking tours for our guests.
Behind this moment lie months of preparation, planning, and dedication, both from the Norwegian Guide Service team and from the guides themselves. After weeks of on-site training and extensive study, their hard work truly showed during the exams.
We are proud to say we have full confidence in their skills and professionalism.
Congratulations to all our newly certified Guide Academy guides! 👏

Happy Labour Day!
Like many countries around the world, Norway celebrates International Workers’ Day (Arbeidernes dag) today. The day has its roots in the late 19th‑century fight for the eight‑hour workday, and today it is commonly observed through demonstrations and events highlighting workers’ rights.
