OMWEG NAAR HUIS | ALI ZANAD

Onder de vleugels van Emoves maakte Ali
Zanad (Bagdad, 1994) een avondvullende
drieluik bestaande uit een groepsstuk, Sat’Eh,
een door hemzelf gespeelde solo in Wijk 1803
en een documentaire over zijn makerschap dat
deze twee stukken verbindt, Omweg Naar Huis.

Ali Zanad is in 1994 geboren in Bagdad. Op zijn 13e vluchtte hij met zijn familie vanuit Irak naar Nederland. In Nederland kwam hij voor het eerst in aanraking met dans en ontwikkelde hij zich tot danser in contemporary urban, zowel via de underground scene als De Dansopleiding in Utrecht. Na deze opleiding richtte hij zich op zijn multidisciplinaire collectief MENSJA, en deed hij veel ervaring op als uitvoerend danser in producties van onder andere Danstheater Aya en DOX.

SAT’EH | Meet the cast

Rowan van den Boomen is a mover and artist from the Netherlands, based in Tilburg, with a deep love for interdisciplinary work and improvisation. Throughout his dance journey, he has tried to merge street and club styles with contemporary dance, strongly influenced by Breaking. He is currently entering his fourth year of the Expanded Contemporary Dance program at the Amsterdam University of the Arts. Beyond dance, Rowan expresses himself through painting, writing, and exploring ways to integrate these practices into his movement. His work is driven by the desire to reach his full potential and to experience the greatest possible freedom.

SAT’EH | Meet the cast

Wulf Stock (19) is a third-year dance student at Codarts and a freelance performer. His dance journey began with breakdance and hip hop, before ballet and contemporary opened up new ways of moving and expressing himself. This mix of styles has shaped him into a versatile dancer with a curiosity to keep exploring.

For him dance is more than performance, it’s a way to discover who he is, to connect with others, and to share what lives inside in the moment. Inspired by the people and dancers around him, he continues to search for his own authentic movement and identity.

SAT’EH | Meet the cast

Julia Baino (24) is of Italian and French origin and is currently based in Haarlem, the Netherlands. She works as a freelancer and teaches contemporary dance classes. While mostly trained in contemporary dance, she also has a background in styles such as afro, dancehall, and hip hop, which she enjoys incorporating into her work. By immersing herself in the dynamics and energies of these dance forms and blending them with her improvisation practice, she shapes her own unique way of moving.
