The weekend is almost here and we’re ready to ride 🚲 Electric or just the old-fashioned way 🤠

𝐀𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐑𝐨𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐝𝐚𝐦: 𝐃𝐚𝐚𝐧 𝐁𝐨𝐭𝐥𝐞𝐤
You may have seen his work before without knowing it was his. Daan Botlek is a Rotterdam-based artist and illustrator, known for his white figures climbing, falling, pushing and playing with walls, corners and buildings.

This is one of his works, but you can find many more around the city. Can you spot them all?

𝐑𝐨𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐝𝐚𝐦 𝐢𝐬 𝐨𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐧 𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐚 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭 💔

It’s a strange nickname, but there’s a reason for it. In 1940, the bombing destroyed almost the entire city centre. What you see today was built after that. And that is exactly what makes Rotterdam so interesting to explore.

During our Highlight Bike Tour, we’ll take you through the city and the story behind it. In 2.5 hours, you’ll cycle past places like the Markthal, Cube Houses, Erasmus Bridge, Old Harbour, Hotel New York, Kop van Zuid and Katendrecht.

The tour is €36.50 per person, including guide and bike.

Rotterdamse Dakendagen is back from 30 May to 7 June, with 42 rooftops opening up around Hofplein, Weena and Stationsplein.

And there’s more waiting above street level than just a good view. Think green roof gardens, small concerts, theatre, dance and exhibitions.

𝐖𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐣𝐞 𝐝𝐚𝐭 het Begijnhof van Breda eerst dichter bij het kasteel lag? In 1535 moesten de begijnen verhuizen, omdat Hendrik III van Nassau het kasteel en de tuin wilde uitbreiden. Sindsdien ligt het Begijnhof aan de Catharinastraat. 🌿
