BÄR …IsBurning is back on July 3rd, this time in Rotterdam’s newest venue: export.

Last November, something that has been brewing for a while in Rotterdam finally opened its doors. A place for the community, shared experience, and a sound carrying beyond the concrete walls.

Here, everyone comes together, indifferent to differences. New stories are created, and the night has been shown a new light. A permanent home for night culture and the people who create it.

This week’s mix is by Utrechts own local legend Vasco!
Programmer of NAR and co-founder of Weerd and pushing the soulful frequencies in all its forms. From Disco to Chicago tracks to Detroit Techno tight together with house.

While gearing up for our first ever weekender in Utrecht at during Pride next weekend, Vasco showcases his sound like no other. ‘’’When I make a recording for a podcast series, I always tend to work with a theme. It takes a moment to numb my rational, rather mathematical brain that wants to create perfect blends with music that doesn’t belong together. Once you give up the idea of the perfect blend and focus more on energy and feeling, the mix will start to create itself; And here we are with the result! I selected a couple of records from my collection within the realm of techy-, tribal- and psychedelic house releases. The mix turned out to be a dynamic hour of power with a driving groove; All with the dance floor in mind.’’

I found this record up a couple of years ago at Offbeat Records in Rotterdam (Shoutout!). I wasn’t familiar with Alex Neri and/or his other project ‘Kamasutra’, but this record opened up the gate for me to his older, tribal infused progressive sounds. It has a cool drive, a heavy bassline and I really dig the airy guitar elements. Make sure to check out his other work a projects on Wildflower Records!

For World Pride in Amsterdam we’re presenting our first ever collab, LAUNDRETTE is joining IsBurning for a Pride opening party on Friday 31st of July at Lofi.
