INCOMING MESS-AGE: ‘OBD – Talk Is Cheap’ OUT NOW!!

Talk Is Cheap, the second single from the upcoming Renegades EP is a politically charged protest that calls out politicians’ empty promises made during campaigns and reflects the disillusion in the aftermath of the polls while serving as a reminder that real change is in the hands of the people.

Driven by funky, dusty breakbeats and short vinyl samples, all programmed and sequenced on vintage 12-bit samplers like the AKAI MPC60 and AKAI S950, Talk is Cheap takes inspiration from old-school hip-hop, reviving an era when complacency wasn’t an option.

At 110 BPM, chaotic energy carries the beats which are amplified by vocal snippets from artists, politicians, and cultural figures; every juxtaposed syllable serves to spell out the hypocrisy, vindicate the masses and hold the delusive to account. With each rapper intensifying the wit-sharp weight of the last voice and samples of Malcolm X pitted against Trump, Elizabeth Warren, Obama and DMX between the dynamic metrically honed bars, Talk Is Cheap is an upraising chorus of dissent.

This release includes the album version and the original demo, re-recorded, mixed, and mastered. Talk is Cheap has been in our arsenal for years, but as our upcoming EP pulled together and we watched the need for a people’s reckoning grow stronger, we knew it deserved a place on the final project.

Influenced by legends like Big Daddy Kane, Eric B & Rakim, Public Enemy, KRS-One, and early Ice Cube and 2Pac, Talk is Cheap inspires a revolution in action and sound.

Our second single “Talk Is Cheap” drops May 2nd — a 2-track release built from 15 vinyl records and one dusty 7” single.
We pulled from jazz, psychedelic rock, funk, and soul. All flipped, chopped, and run through the AKAI MPC60 and S950.
In the lab like mad scientists, we tore through samples, dissected grooves, and pieced it all back together from scratch. Hard drums, layered textures, raw emotion — and a message that hits.
We didn’t just stop at vinyl. We added samples from other sources to sharpen the political edge of this track and on top of the samples, we brought in live guitar recordings to give it that raw, organic feel that adds layers to the vibe.
This one’s meant to make you move and think.
This is hip-hop with purpose.
No trends. No gimmicks. Just crates, grit, and truth in every bar.
