Dear guests,

It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of Prof. dr. ir. Jacob (Jaap) de Smit on June 1, at the age of 83. Jaap was the namesake and founding spirit of In de Smitse. As a professor at the Rotterdam School of Management, Jaap played a vital role in creating a place where students could connect beyond the classroom. What started as a mobile bar in a lecture hall grew into a beloved institution and a second home for generations of students and staff at Erasmus University.

We are deeply grateful for his vision, dedication and lasting legacy. Jaap will always remain an important part of the Smitse story. Our thoughts are with his family and loves ones during this difficult time.

The easiest way to get to Smitse Festival? By bike! 🚲

We encourage all visitors to cycle to the festival and park their bikes in the designated bicycle racks near the venue. This helps keep entrances, walkways and emergency routes clear for everyone.

🚫 We discourage the use of shared e-scooters

Metro, tram and bus services will still be running after the festival, making public transport a convenient and sustainable way to travel to and from the event.
