☰ CODARTS X RIDCC 2026 ☰ RIDCC has grown into one of the world’s leading choreography competitions and offers an important platform for emerging choreographic voices.
Congratulations to Codarts alumni Marc Sayer Cassú and Milica Bajčetić, and alumna Dorėja Atkočiūnas, who have been selected for the Rotterdam International Duet Choreography Competition (RIDCC) 2026.
Out of more than 400 submissions from around the world, only 16 duets were selected to present their work at Theater Zuidplein from 18 to 20 June.

≡ NIENKE AND JESPER WIN BUMA AWARDS AGAIN ≡ Songwriter Nienke van der Velden received a Buma Award for Alles Wordt Beter, performed by Emma Heesters.
At the same time, alumnus Jesper Hoekstra scored the most-streamed song in the Netherlands of 2025. Echte Liefde Is Te Koop, performed by Samuel Welten and produced by Jesper himself, has surpassed an impressive 58 million streams.
The two alumni also won the Buma Awards of 2025. Congratulations to both!
☰ CODARTS STRING ORCHESTRA ☰ A glimpse back at a memorable performance during the Codarts Orchestra Festival. An evening of expressive storytelling and exceptional musicianship by the Codarts String Orchestra, led by Gordan Nikolić.
From the shimmering colours of Debussy’s Danse sacrée et danse profane, featuring harp, to the lyrical beauty of Clara Schumann’s Romance No. 2, and the powerful intensity of Shostakovich’s Chamber Symphony in C minor, Op. 110a. Our students captivated the audience with a compelling programme of timeless works.

☰ A GLIMPSE OF POP OP DE KAAP ☰ From indie pop to punk, neo soul to progressive alternative metal, Katendrecht came alive during another unforgettable edition of Pop op de Kaap. More than 30 Codarts Pop bands and songwriters took over the stages around Deliplein, turning Rotterdam’s creative heart into a vibrant celebration of original music, connection and emerging talent. From intimate moments to explosive performances, this year’s edition had it all. Thank you to everyone who performed, supported and danced the night away with us.

☰ ALUMNA DESI VAN DOEVEREN WINS MUSICAL AWARD ☰ She has won the prestigious Musical Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role. Desi received the award for her acclaimed performance as Aletta Jacobs in ALETTA the musical.

This unique collaboration brought Graham’s iconic choreography to life, accompanied by the powerful live sounds of our Codarts orchestra.
