Contour Gallery
De galerie schetst de contour. De artiest krijgt de ruimte, en de bezoeker de invulling.

Artist Announcement
Lana Mesic (b. 1987, Yugoslavia) is an artist living and working in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
With a Bachelor’s and Master’s in Photography from AKV|St. Joost in Breda (2010 and 2012), she has long been drawn to the strange, invisible forces that shape our everyday lives. At the core of her practice lies a fascination with how we—both individually and collectively—fill in the gaps of what we cannot see.
A visual artist with a transdisciplinary approach, Mesic moves seamlessly between photography, sculpture, assemblage, video, books, and social interventions in the public realm. Her work navigates the transience and chaos of this world, skillfully blending urgent social issues with
personal experience to reflect the often turbulent state of contemporary society.
On Sunday November 10th at 15.00 we will show her work for the first time at Contour Gallery in the exhibition:
“The Incomplete Compendium of the Invisible World as Compiled by Lana Mesic”

Building on the success of previous editions, Art Central Rotterdam XL - Art Weekend once again brings together 28 venues across the city. Galleries, institutions, and artist-run spaces collaborate to showcase Rotterdam’s vibrant art scene.
In the Pressure series, balls—symbols of play and joy—are trapped between construction materials like wooden beams, bricks, and glass. Clamps and chains apply just the right amount of pressure to maintain a delicate equilibrium. Here, Ozturk plays with contrasts: the lightness of the balls against the weight of construction materials, and the joy of play juxtaposed with the tension of compression. This series speaks to the struggle for balance in life, the hidden and visible pressures we face, and the resilience required to maintain our inner equilibrium. The pieces’ temporariness, held together only by tension, suggests that just as easily as these structures can be dismantled, we too can release ourselves from life’s constraints and rediscover our inner joy.
