The Dutch Coolest Brands are coming up again! This is the award where juries search for the brands that have the most potential to become a impactful brand in the future. Our Creative Director, Marcel, is one of the juries. In fact, this is his third time being in the jury! On Tuesday he attended the kick-off for edition 2022. Many thanks to iO for hosting the kick-off.

Which brands will be the winners this year? Among last year's winners were: Marcel's Greensoap, Fairphone, and Vanmoofiets. We wish Marcel lots of success with his jury tasks.

Meet Sherina 🙋🏻‍♀️
Our Lead of People & Culture, who used to dream of having a holiday resort, but luckily ended up at DotControl. This might make you wonder how she ended up here right? Well, the answer to that is both simple and a bit funny. When Sherina was only 16 years old, she worked at a snackbar with someone who has become one of her closest friends till this day. Fast forward, about 20 years later, this ‘person’ was now working at DotControl - and the company was in need of someone to lead our company culture. Stating the obvious - Sherina was introduced and the perfect fit for the role - due to her honesty, mother-like qualities and work hard, play hard mentality.

What she loves about her job? 👩🏻‍💻
"There are plenty of things keeping Sherina at DotControl. Elements that make her love being here, include the young and diverse teams, the creativity and tech savviness, a professional yet humane culture and the potential to grow and improve as a mid-sized company. What became especially appealing to her within her role is that she feels like there is space for everyone to be listened to, making all individuals take part in a culture that is created together."

Sherina lives in Krimpen aan de Lek with her boyfriend and her 2 children. Already sounds like a full house right? But wait, she also owns 1 horse, 2 cats and 2 hamsters. In case you’re wondering how someone ends up with 5 pets… Let’s say her boyfriend has the great ability of introducing ideas for new pets to her children – leaving Sherina in a difficult space to say no to 3 people simultaneously.

Now envision this packed house combined with a busy social life and you will probably have a good overview of Sherina’s life. Drinks to kick-off the weekend usually start on Thursday for Sherina. But somehow we don’t seem to notice that, by the energy she brings to the office on Friday. Maybe she has a secret… Or maybe she just trained herself with years of having a chaotic life full of festivals and parties.
