Levenslust Festival is a unique collaboration between Stichting Pluspunt, CVD and Brutus, in which artists in vulnerable situations work side by side, equally, with professionals. At the festival, the artists show their work.

Attendance to the festival is free. The AUTONOMOUS exhibition is accessible with a normal entrance ticket.

Levenslust Festival is een unieke samenwerking tussen Stichting Pluspunt, CVD en Brutus, waarbij kunstenaars in kwetsbare situaties op gelijkwaardige basis samenwerken met professionele kunstenaars. Tijdens het festival presenteren de kunstenaars hun werk.

De toegang tot het festival is gratis. De tentoonstelling AUTONOMOUS is te bezoeken met een regulier entreeticket.

The power of the community!

During Rotterdam Architecture Month, the KeileCollectief and AIR are presenting the exhibition ‘The Power of the Community’ in the KeileZaal. Discover how collectivity and circularity come together in the city of the future.

As a pioneer in the Keilekwartier, Brutus also takes centre stage at the exhibition. After 40 years in M4H, Brutus is transforming into a vibrant hub of culture, living and making. Led by Powerhouse Company and Atelier Van Lieshout, you’ll see how three new residential towers, a cultural cluster and a public sculpture garden will merge to create the ultimate space for creativity and experimentation.

Tijdens de Rotterdam Architectuur Maand presenteren het KeileCollectief en AIR de expo ‘De Kracht van de Gemeenschap’ in de KeileZaal. Ontdek hoe collectiviteit en circulariteit samenkomen in de stad van de toekomst.

Als pionier in het Keilekwartier schittert ook Brutus op de tentoonstelling. Na 40 jaar in M4H transformeert Brutus naar een bruisende hub van cultuur, wonen en maken. Onder leiding van Powerhouse Company en Atelier Van Lieshout zie je hoe drie nieuwe woontorens, een cultuurcluster en een openbare beeldentuin samen zullen smelten tot dé plek voor creativiteit en experiment.

Are you ready for another Wild Summer of Art?

On Friday 17 July, Wild Summer of Art 2026 – The Treasure Hunt Edition opens at Brutus. For eight weeks, fifty Rotterdam-based artists will showcase unknown, surprising and under-exposed aspects of their work.

Curators Hajo Doorn and Cokkie Snoei deliberately chose not to have an overarching theme, opting instead for a proper Treasure Hunt. Wander through the raw, industrial spaces of Brutus and discover artworks that tell their own stories. No complicated concepts here!

This WSoA, Brutus will once again be buzzing with performances, music and workshops. The weekly highlight will be the Brutus Takeover every Friday, in which artists transform the space into a unique, experimental experience.

Klaar voor een nieuwe Wild Summer of Art?

Vrijdag 17 juli opent Wild Summer of Art 2026 – The Treasure Hunt Edition bij Brutus. Acht weken lang tonen vijftig Rotterdamse kunstenaars onbekende, verrassende en onderbelichte kanten van hun werk.

Curatoren Hajo Doorn en Cokkie Snoei kozen bewust niet voor een overkoepelend thema, maar voor een ware Treasure Hunt. Dwaal door de rauwe, industriële ruimtes van Brutus en ontdek kunstwerken die hun eigen verhaal vertellen. Hier geen ingewikkelde concepten!

Ook deze WSoA heeft Brutus een breed programma aan performances, muziek en workshops. Met elke vrijdag als hoogtepunt de Brutus Takeover: een avond waarop we langer geopend zijn en kunstenaars de ruimte zullen transformeren tot een unieke, experimentele ervaring.

What happens to us if the world changes faster than we can adapt?

Join us for Timespacing. Guided by artist Cristian Boscheri, Timespacing is an interactive group event that will move you through a series of scenario cards set in 2126.

Each card drops you in a specific scene from a possible future. The cards open a conversation, leading it into an unexpected direction depending on who is in the room.

This interactive experience is aimed at expanding imagination beyond limits, together with strangers who might see it completely differently than you.

Come and join this session on 29 May 16:00 to 18:00.

Wat gebeurt er met ons als de wereld sneller verandert dan we ons kunnen aanpassen?

Timespacing is een interactief groepsevenement, onder leiding van kunstenaar Cristian Boscheri, dat je meeneemt langs een reeks scenariokaarten die zich afspelen in 2126.

Elke kaart plaatst je in een specifieke scène uit een mogelijke toekomst. De kaarten zetten een gesprek in gang, dat een onverwachte wending neemt afhankelijk van wie er in de ruimte aanwezig is.

Deze interactieve ervaring is bedoeld om de verbeelding tot het uiterste te verruimen, samen met vreemden die het misschien heel anders zien dan jij.

Doe mee met het gesprek op 29 mei van 16:00 tot 18:00.

How do we resist a system designed to control how we think?

On 29 May from 14:00 to 15:30, you are invited to a special programme centered around the exhibition AUTONOMOUS: a talk and guided tour with curator Ine Gevers.

During this session, Gevers offers an engaging and accessible introduction to the exhibition, with a particular focus on the concept of cognitive capitalism. What exactly does this system entail? Why is it a challenge in today’s society? And how might we relate to it?

Through sharp observations and examples, Gevers explores possible strategies, including whether a ‘neurospicy take-over’ could be considered a form of resistance.

The talk will be followed by a guided tour through the exhibition.

Please note: the tour will be conducted in Dutch.

Hoe verzetten we ons tegen een systeem dat is ontworpen om onze gedachten te sturen?

Op 29 mei van 14.00 tot 15.30 uur ben je van harte uitgenodigd voor een speciaal programma rond de tentoonstelling AUTONOMOUS: een talk en rondleiding door curator Ine Gevers.

Tijdens de talk geeft Gevers een toegankelijke inleiding op de tentoonstelling, met bijzondere aandacht voor het concept van cognitief kapitalisme. Wat houdt dit systeem precies in? Waarom vormt het een uitdaging in de huidige samenleving? En hoe kunnen we ons ertoe verhouden?

Aan de hand van scherpe observaties en voorbeelden verkent Gevers mogelijke strategieën, waaronder de vraag of een ‘neurospicy take-over’ als een vorm van verzet kan worden beschouwd.

De talk wordt gevolgd door een rondleiding door de tentoonstelling en wordt gegeven in het Nederlands.

Levenslust Festival is back!

From 5 to 7 June, we’ll be celebrating the third edition at Brutus. Levenslust Festival is a unique collaboration between Stichting Pluspunt, CVD and Brutus, in which artists in vulnerable situations work side by side with professionals.

The focus is on collaboration as equals, in which all the artists involved support one another. Expect a weekend full of performances, music, fashion and visual art.

The festival is part of the AUTONOMOUS exhibition. For the festival, Brutus will be transformed into a Temporary Autonomous Zone (T.A.Z.): a temporary sanctuary where the rules of everyday society are temporarily suspended, creating space for experimentation, encounter and imagination.

Levenslust Festival is terug!

Van 5 t/m 7 juni vieren we de derde editie bij Brutus. Levenslust Festival is een unieke samenwerking tussen Stichting Pluspunt, CVD en Brutus, waarbij kunstenaars in een kwetsbare positie zij aan zij werken met professionals.

Hierbij staat een gelijkwaardige samenwerking centraal, waarin alle betrokken kunstenaars elkaar versterken. Verwacht een weekend vol performances, muziek, mode en beeldende kunst.

Het festival is onderdeel van de tentoonstelling AUTONOMOUS. Voor het festival wordt Brutus omgetoverd tot een Temporary Autonomous Zone (T.A.Z.): een tijdelijke vrijplaats waar de regels van de dagelijkse samenleving even wegvallen en ruimte ontstaat voor experiment, ontmoeting en verbeelding.

OPEN CALL: Fleur Groenendijk Residency @ Brutus Lab

Are you an artist looking for the time, space and freedom to experiment on a grand scale? Brutus Lab and the Fleur Groenendijk Foundation (FGF) are looking for a new resident for the period of 1 October 2026 – 28 March 2027!

We are looking for a visionary artist from any discipline whose work is (also) suitable for outdoor spaces. During this six-month residency in the heart of Rotterdam’s M4H district, you will have access to a 40m² studio and a furnished apartment, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in your practice and the dynamic local art scene.

Important! For this specific residency, it is a requirement that the resident is fluent in the Dutch language. We also warmly welcome Dutch-speaking artists living outside the Netherlands, including those from regions where Dutch is spoken, such as Belgium, South Africa and the Caribbean part of the Netherlands.

OPEN CALL: Fleur Groenendijk-residentie @ Brutus Lab

Ben je een kunstenaar die op zoek is naar de tijd, ruimte en vrijheid om op grote schaal te experimenteren? Brutus Lab en de Fleur Groenendijk Foundation (FGF) zijn op zoek naar een nieuwe resident voor de periode van 1 oktober 2026 tot en met 28 maart 2027!

We zijn op zoek naar een visionaire kunstenaar uit welke discipline dan ook, wiens werk (ook) geschikt is voor buitenruimtes. Tijdens deze residentie van zes maanden in het hart van de Rotterdamse wijk M4H heb je de beschikking over een atelier van 40 m² en een gemeubileerd appartement, waardoor je je volledig kunt onderdompelen in je praktijk en de dynamische lokale kunstscene.

Belangrijk! Voor deze specifieke residentie is het een vereiste dat de resident de Nederlandse taal vloeiend spreekt. Wij verwelkomen nadrukkelijk ook Nederlandstalige kunstenaars van buiten Nederland, waaronder uit regio’s waar Nederlands gesproken wordt, zoals België, Zuid-Afrika en het Caribisch deel van Nederland.
