How garment businesses can reduce waste
More and more businesses and consumers are becoming aware of the catastrophic environmental impact of the fashion and textile industry. Waste is only one part of the equation, but with the rise of fast fashion, it is becoming a major concern for many. This is an issue throughout the lifecycle of an item of clothing. Excess materials in factories are often discarded as waste rather than being reused for other items. Deadstock garments that brands do not end up selling are often burned and buried, equating to more than 1.5 billion items each year. Even customers are chucking away barely worn clothes to swap them for the latest items that match current fashion trends. According to a 2017 report, this accounts for 92 million tons of textile waste every year...https://lnkd.in/giasJTFW

In addition, several countries are increasing their minimum wage, helping people that rely on these sectors gain access to a better income. However, September has also brought about many issues. Factories in Vietnam, Myanmar, and China are being forced to close, seeing unemployment rates sharply rise and issues within the global supply chain. All that we love is denim.
The blue jean is a classic wardrobe staple and an integral part of everyday life. In varying colors and cuts, people can easily own more denim jeans than days in the week. The growing trend of genderless fashion
In the wake of political correctness, gender boundaries are being challenged, and the interface between male and female roles is becoming increasingly blurred. This has spread to all areas of society, with many women pushing into non-traditional, typically male-dominated work, children's toys becoming genderless, and people around the globe protesting for change.
Within the past few years, the word "genderless" has also been a buzzword in the fashion and textile industry. As a result, a growing number of genderless brands are emerging, and many pre-existing fashion brands are developing gender-fluid collections. But is unisex fashion an increasing trend in the sector? Here is a closer look at this trend why it can help fashion designers and brands excel in a saturated industry...https://lnkd.in/gpnpeJB9

Microplastics in fashion&textile. Do we have ways to solve it?
The fashion and textile industry is known for being exceptionally environmentally damaging. It is the second-largest water polluter globally, responsible for 10% of annual CO2 emissions, and relies on many dangerous chemicals, pesticides, and dyes during fabric manufacturing. One equally damaging yet less heavily debated topic is the release of microplastics from clothing. However, its importance cannot be neglected. According to one study, 34.8% of global microplastic pollution comes from washing textiles; it is the world's largest primary source of microplastics. So in terms of the environmental and human health impacts of the industry, it's a pretty big deal...https://lnkd.in/gr5xFvzt
