Had a pleasure working with our beloved organist Eric Koevoets again, as well as composers Sophia Bardoutsou & Celeste Wright on this new program, see you tonight!
MULTIPLICITY
June 13, 20:00, Lambertuskerk Rotterdam.
Free entry.
Why do we live in cities? What do we experience in the noise, the proximity, the polyphony of urban life?
MultipliCity is a vocal journey through the layered soul of the city: from Hildegard von Bingen and Kassia’s convent visions to the bustling cries of Renaissance Paris, from Pierre de la Rue and Dufay to new works by Sophia Bardoutsou and Céleste Wright, created in a collaboration between BrownOut and FONOS collectives.
We sing ruins and rebirths, cathedrals and marketplaces, laments and street sounds—echoes of Rotterdam, past and present, with a special performance on the 125-year-old Maarschalkerweerd organ by Eric Koevoets.
In a year that marks 750 years since the founding of Amsterdam and the destruction of cities like Rafah, over three millennia old, we ask: what stories still survive in stone, in sound, in song?
