After a weekend full of music, reconnecting with old friends and meeting new faces, we’re happy to look back on some of the highlights of North Sea Jazz 2026 in Rotterdam.

From our annual reception with North Sea Jazz on Saturday afternoon to the many incredible Dutch acts that took over the stages throughout the weekend, there weren’t many moments when we weren’t dancing, admiring, or connecting.

What’s your favorite North Sea Jazz memory from this year?

Ahead of North Sea Jazz this weekend, we sat down with saxophonist and composer Mete Erker to look back on his very first visit to the festival in the mid-1980s. At just 16 years old, seeing his musical heroes perform left a lasting impression and helped shape the artist he would become.

We also spoke about how that same sense of inspiration became the starting point for his latest project, paying tribute to the musicians who have influenced him throughout his career.

This Saturday, July 11th, Mete Erker Trio + 1 takes the Yenisei stage at North Sea Jazz, performing from 18:00–19:15.

Ahead of North Sea Jazz this weekend, we sat down with trumpeter and composer Suzan Veneman to talk about her memories of the festival, the making of her new album The Art of Letting Go, and the creative process behind her music.

This Friday, July 10th, Suzan Veneman Sextet takes the stage at North Sea Jazz from 22:00–23:15 at the Yenisei stage. Don’t miss the chance to see one of the leading voices of the Dutch jazz scene return to North Sea Jazz for her first performance at the festival since 2022.

This summer, Chaerin Im takes center stage at North Sea Round Town as the festival’s Artist in Focus.

With the premiere of Phase Shift – A Sonic Collision of Seoul and Rotterdam on July 2, Chaerin embarks on a new artistic chapter. Moving beyond her roots in jazz piano and the Korean classical tradition, she explores a synth-driven and genre-defying sound that draws inspiration from both Seoul and Rotterdam’s underground scenes.

Through a series of performances in different constellations, Chaerin continues to carve out her own musical path — one that is adventurous, personal and impossible to place within a single genre.

Daughter Daughter is set to hit the road this summer, bringing a powerful and adventurous sound to stages across Europe.

Made up of drummer Sun-Mi Hong, saxophonists Amalie Dahl and Camila Nebbia, and cellist Elisabeth Coudoux, the ensemble moves effortlessly between strong melodic writing, abstract textures, and open improvisation — always leaving space for each musician’s individual voice to shine.

The tour includes performances at Jazzfestival Saalfelden, Summer Bummer in Belgium, Cologne Jazz Week, and a special concert at Amsterdam’s BIMHUIS on August 27.
