I made this painting about 13 years ago. I was on the verge of dropping out of art school, doubting myself in every way possible, confused, depressed and completely broke. Underneath this painting is stuckness, stress and rigidity. What I painted on top of it is a woman, accepting and receptive, welcoming the risks that come with pivoting. Free of restraints, trusting it will all work itself out in the end. It hangs in my upstairs corridor and always reminds me of the obstacles I’ve overcome over the years. I found my way back to me. Regardless of (still) a heavy study debt in my pocket and a ton of new chronic health issues that make everything more challenging.. I’m here. Still creating. What a gift and privilege that is.. 🪶🥰

Also I’m having knee surgery 🩼 tomorrow! Fingers crossed 🤞 it’ll go well and I’ll finally heal from this pesky three year long running injury. It should also give me loads of bed rest AKA an opportunity to glue myself to the iPad and draw draw draw draw 🤓✍️.

Anyone know a good tv series to binge? I’ve seen a lot of things and I’m running out of stuff to watch! 📺
