Aircraft Manufacturing Laboratory

Meet some of the members of the Group 19 of the Aircraft Manufacturing Laboratory!

Last Monday, Team 11 paid a visit to the PH-Lab workshop at Rotterdam the Hague Airport.
There we could see the Pipistrel Velis Electro PH-NLX, one of the first certified electric aircraft, and the Cessna Citation II PH-LAB, one of the research aircraft operated by the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering which is owned and operated jointly with the National Aerospace Laboratory. Originally designed for executive travel, this Citation has been extensively modified by Delft University of Technology and NLR to serve as a versatile airborne research platform.
Apart from that, the team got tips and advices from the workshop staff.

Last but not least, we present our project manager Thomas. The one who makes sure everyone complies with their roles, order is maintained in the team… and team bonding activities take place 🥳

Any team needs someone in charge of documenting the hours worked, ordering any piece needed, taking the minutes during meetings… Daan as head of the project office makes sure all those tasks are covered.

All of us are part of the construction team, following the lead of Michael, in charge of making sure all steps in the construction manual are followed as stated.

During the manufacturing of an aircraft, documentation is key as all steps performed, tools used,… must be properly documented not only to have control of what is done, but also in this case so that following teams can consult previous work.

And what happens if during the manufacturing something does not go as well as it should? Pablo as Quality Assurance takes the role and checks how serious the issue is, so that the proper steps are taken to assure quality in the manufactured aircraft.

That’s me, Andrea, in charge of the team’s public relations and marketing so that you all get to know our work in the laboratory.
