Taalsmakelijk! Foreign Language+Different Food=Your dinner in your kitchen offers a unique formula: we teach a foreign language within a culinary context.

We use food as a departing point to improve your skills in Italian or Portuguese and to deepen the culture’s knowledge. We discuss a recipe and/or cook together using exclusively the target language. The lesson is within a “real life” context, which is well known to you and is a passion of yours, facilitating the communication and enabling you to learn much faster, in a natural and fun way.

Who said a cake had to be sweet!? It doesn’t!
I love to bake this one to serve with a meat stew as (an original) replacement of potatoes or rice, for example. But I need to take care, because usually I eat it too fast just as a snack😆
It is super simple, you mix everything (egg, flour, milk, olive oil, asparagus, sundried tomatoes and cheese), oven for 30+- and ready!

I was craving a snack...had aubergine in the fridge, and this was the result 😋 Baked aubergine with smoked paprika homemade tomato dip. When I moved to Sicily years ago, I did not even know how to eat aubergines, because they are not part of the traditional Portuguese cuisine, nowadays I am a big fan! I needed inspiration...after opening the fridge and the cabinets, before the impro started, I needed some inspiration, which I found online. The result was: thinly sliced aubergines, sprinkled with peper, smoked paprika, bread crumbs and grana padano cheese and a drizzle of olive oil. Off they went to the oven until crispy/gold and then I served with a leftover of cold homemade tomato sauce that I had in the freezer and which also had been made with smoked paprika. A little bit of coriander and a cold rosé...was perfect 😋😋😋 Fun fact: to the day I still say Melanzana before I can even remember the Portuguese word for Aubergine (Eggplant) 😅

always surprises me with the unexpected flavour combinations he invites our palate to experience. His recipes are the only ones I never change, because I don’t dare! I don’t want to miss out on yet another party of flavours! I even go out on purpose to buy that one ingredient that was missing...and let me tell you, it was one of the best salads ever!! Oven glazed lemons, mint, pomegranate and pomegranate mollasses work divinely together 😋

Risotto with Spinach, Cramberries and Safran Sauce.
The original recipe was actually with raisins, but I had none, so I used cramberries. I also decided to add toasted laminated almonds and grated parmesan and it worked very well 😋😋😋

I am never happy with just those 3 or 4 lonely Gyoza🥟 they give you at the restaurant, I always want more! So...I make them! This time it was a last moment decision and I did not have all the ingredients from the recipe I learnt with my Asian colleague, but that’s when one gets creative! I can only say they were yummielicious and there were no leftovers🥢😋

I don’t fancy cumin and that is one of the main reasons I don’t buy ready-made hummus, though there are some pretty good brands out there. And I also like the freedom to play with what I have in store, so thhis time I made it with lemon zest and juice, fresh ginger and coriander.
