We’re delighted to announce that PENTATONE is partnering with the Danish Philharmonic Orchestra and Nordic Artists Management for the launch of a new international cello competition in 2027.

As part of this exciting collaboration, the competition’s First Prize winner will record their debut album with the Danish Philharmonic Orchestra, to be released on PENTATONE. Together, we’re proud to support the next generation of exceptional cello talent and help launch an exciting international career.

🎂Happy Birthday, Sir Edward Elgar!

For most of us, the Cello Concerto in E minor is the door into Elgar. We remember Johannes Moser’s interpretation of it, praised by Gramophone as “one of the finest we’ve had in years.”

Going deeper into Elgar’s compositions and our catalogue, we found “Dream of Gerontius” because as Elgar himself wrote on completing it: “This is the best of me.” A choral journey through a dying soul’s passage into the afterlife.
