Passion for Flying

A small thing can lead to big things.

For many people, their first experience of an airplane – whether seeing it on the ground or in the air – can be a powerful motivator to learn to fly themselves. For some, this passion for aviation starts at a young age, but it can also occur later in life. Once someone has become a pilot, their love for all things aviation often only grows stronger.

It is estimated that there are between 1.5 and 2.3 million pilots in the world. In the USA, there are 734.911 pilots including civilians and military. There's no exact number because no international organization keeps track, and the laws governing pilots, including their education and employment, vary from country to country. So private pilots in one country may not have to register with the government, while those in another country may have to. Most pilots, around 90+%, are male.

With a passion for flying Flight Deck Consultancy was founded almost 5 years ago by Aukje Engel, a VFR pilot herself since 1980. We feel lucky to be working with and for a sector that remains the most interesting sector in the world.
