On October 31, 2023, DigiCert will cease the sale of SSL certificate subscriptions for 4, 5, and 6 years
Starting from October 31, 2023, DigiCert will no longer sell extended-term plans for SSL certificates of 4, 5, and 6 years. According to the announcement by the certification authority, this change was made to optimize the infrastructure for future improvements and advancements in the certificate issuance process.

The lock icon in the browser has long caused dissatisfaction among Google developers, so in September 2022 it was decided to reconsider its design.

The change in the rules for issuing public OV code signing certificates has been postponed until 1 June 2023
As we published previously, the CA/B Forum proposed a start date of 15 November 2022 for switching to storing private keys for OV code signing certificates on devices that meet FIPS 140 Level 2, Common Criteria EAL 4+ or similar security standards. However, the decision was made to extend the transition period.

The procedure for issuing public OV Code Signing certificates has changed
According to the SSL industry regulator CA/B Forum, starting November 15, 2022, private keys for OV Code Signing certificates must be stored on devices that meet FIPS 140 Level 2, Common Criteria EAL 4+ or equivalent security standards. As a result, the protection of the private key will be strengthened and brought to the level of EV (Extended Validation).

Ballot SC53, relating to the deprecation of SHA-1 OCSP signatures, has been adopted
The CA/B Forum, the regulator in the SSL certificate industry, has passed Ballot SC53 by a majority vote. SHA-1 OCSP signatures are no longer supported.
OCSP (Online Certificate Status Protocol) is an Internet protocol used to obtain the revocation status of an X.509 digital certificate.
