De coolste klas van het jaar! Met trots delen we dat de jeugdvoorstelling DONNIE, die eerder dit jaar bij ons in het theater werd opgevoerd, een Zilveren Krekel heeft gewonnen voor Meest indrukwekkende jeugdtheaterproductie 2026. We feliciteren iedereen die heeft bijgedragen aan deze bijzondere voorstelling, en zijn ontzettend trots op de hele cast en crew.

DONNIE is een energieke hervertelling van Mozarts Don Giovanni, die de focus verlegt van de charismatische hoofdpersoon naar de klasgenoten om hem heen, en opera en hiphop samenbrengt in een verhaal over macht, identiteit en het uitdagen van de systemen die ons vormen.

Coolest class of the season! We’re proud to share that the youth production DONNIE (performed at our theatre earlier this year) has won a Silver Cricket Award (Zilveren Krekel) for Most Impressive Youth Production 2026. Congratulations to everyone who contributed to this remarkable production. We couldn’t be prouder of the entire cast and creative team!

DONNIE is a high-energy reimagining of Mozart’s Don Giovanni that shifts the focus from the charismatic protagonist to the classmates around him. Blending opera and hip hop, it tells a powerful story about power, identity and challenging the systems that shape us.

Een levend symbool van verzet en solidariteit. Tijdens WorldPride Amsterdam 2026 presenteren Nationale Opera & Ballet en de Amsterdam Rainbow Dress Foundation Amsterdam Rainbow Dress – Unfolded Voices. Ahmad Joudeh en Femke Halsema hadden alvast de eer om de jurk in ons theater te presenteren.

Het project markeert het tienjarig jubileum van de Amsterdam Rainbow Dress, een kunstwerk gemaakt van de vlaggen van landen waar een LGBTQIA+-identiteit strafbaar is. Wanneer een land inclusieve wetgeving invoert, wordt die vlag vervangen door een regenboogvlag. Na tien jaar de wereld over te hebben gereisd, is de jurk deze zomer te zien in Studio Boekman, begeleid door muziek, video en persoonlijke verhalen.

A living symbol of resistance and solidarity. During WorldPride Amsterdam 2026, Dutch National Opera & Ballet and the Amsterdam Rainbow Dress Foundation present Amsterdam Rainbow Dress – Unfolded Voices. Ahmad Joudeh and Femke Halsema already shared the honour of presenting the dress in our theatre.

The project marks the tenth anniversary of the Amsterdam Rainbow Dress, an artwork made from the flags of countries where an LGBTQIA+ identity is criminalised. Whenever a country introduces inclusive legislation, that flag is replaced with a rainbow flag. After ten years of travelling the world, the dress will be on display this summer in Studio Boekman, accompanied by music, video and personal stories.

Deze opera zit vol politieke intriges, liefde en verraad en vertelt het verhaal van Simon Boccanegra, die wordt uitgeroepen tot leider van het politiek verdeelde Genua, kort nadat hij zowel zijn geliefde als zijn dochter heeft verloren. Verdi schetst het portret van een vader en politicus die tevergeefs verlangt naar vrede en vrijheid.

This opera is filled with political intrigue, love and betrayal, and tells the story of Simon Boccanegra, who is declared leader of the politically divided Genoa shortly after losing both his beloved and his daughter. Verdi paints a portrait of a father and politician longing in vain for peace and freedom.
