El Kabir: Adamawa First Lady Extends Love to Inmates, Donates Food Items and Cows to Correctional Centres

In the spirit of Eid El Kabir celebrations, which emphasize love, sacrifice, and compassion, the wife of the Governor of Adamawa State, Dr. Lami Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has once again extended a hand of fellowship to inmates at correctional centres across the state capital.

Represented by the wife of the Speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Mrs. Faith Balthiya Wesley, alongside wives of members of the State Assembly, food items, including cows, were donated to the Yolde Pate, Yola, and Jimeta Correctional Centres to give the inmates a sense of belonging during the festive season.

While presenting the items to officials of the centres, the First Lady urged them to ensure equitable distribution and judicious use of the donations.

She noted that Eid El Kabir is a period for the Muslim Ummah to embrace the spirit of love, sacrifice, and support for the less privileged, as exemplified by Prophet Muhammad Peace be upon him.

Officials of the correctional centres expressed gratitude for the kind gesture, stating that the outreach has become a tradition during festive periods and assured the delegation that the donated items would be used for the purpose intended.

Adamawa Government Signs MoU With GBV Service Providers to Strengthen Girls’ Education Initiative

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, Hajiya Aishatu Mohammed Umar, has urged all Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Service Providers engaged under the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) Project in Adamawa State to carry out their responsibilities diligently and professionally.

She made the call during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Adamawa State Government and the GBV Service Providers at the Conference Hall of the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development.

The event brought together government representatives, officials of the Adamawa State Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) Project, and GBV Service Providers from various organizations to formalize their partnership towards the full implementation of the AGILE project in the state.

Speaking during the ceremony, Hajiya Aishatu Mohammed Umar described the engagement as part of the AGILE Project’s commitment to ensuring that out-of-school children, especially girls, return to school and continue their education for a better future.

According to her, GBV Service Providers remain critical stakeholders because of the important roles they play in combating gender-based violence. She therefore urged them to continue supporting the Fresh Air administration of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri in building a greater Adamawa State.

In his remarks, the Adamawa State Coordinator of the AGILE Project, Engineer Siddiki Liman, commended Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for his continued support for the education sector, noting that the sector has witnessed remarkable improvement under his administration.

Also speaking, the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer of the project, Mr. Hyelda Bathon Ati, alongside the Redress Safeguard Officer, Lydia Ma’ajam, highlighted the technical aspects of the project and the measures put in place to ensure its successful implementation across the state.

ADAMAWA GOVERNMENT REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO EDUCATION REFORMS AND TEACHER DEVELOPMENT

The Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Umar Garba Pella, says the Fintiri-led administration has invested heavily in the education sector and remains committed to improving policies that will strengthen the system.

Dr. Umar Garba Pella stated this during a one-day meeting organised by the State Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, in collaboration with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and ADSUBEB, for the public presentation of the revised National Teacher Policy (NTP) and its implementation tools in the state.

The meeting, which took place at the Nurses House, Jimeta, was titled “Youth Empowerment in Nigeria (Second Phase)” and aimed at expanding, integrating and strengthening systems (EISS) to build teachers’ capacity and resilience across the education sector.

Represented by the Director of Administration, Mr. Simnawa Geoffrey, the Commissioner commended UNESCO and the World Bank for organising the event, describing it as timely and beneficial to improving service delivery in the education sector.

He explained that the Fintiri-led administration has continued to invest heavily in education, particularly in manpower development, and reiterated the government’s commitment to policies that will improve learning outcomes and strengthen the sector.

The Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development urged participants to contribute meaningfully during discussions and ensure the effective implementation of the revised policy.

Dr. Umar Garba Pella added that the proper implementation of the National Teacher Policy would help transform attitudes towards the teaching profession and promote professionalism in the sector.

In a technical presentation, a Director at the Federal Ministry of Education, Dr. Uba, represented by the Deputy Director of Colleges of Education, Godwin Egbomefu, highlighted the importance of the revised policy in improving teacher recruitment, welfare and remuneration.

He explained that the policy would serve as a guide for promoting professionalism and sanity in both federal and state education systems, while also improving school leadership, classroom practice, gender equity, dignity and resilience within the teaching profession.

Egbomefu further urged relevant agencies, including Ministries of Education, Colleges of Education, the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), and the National Teachers’ Institute (NTI), to ensure strict compliance with the revised policy during teacher recruitment. He stressed that only qualified and certified candidates, particularly holders of the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) from recognised institutions, should be employed to curb quackery in the profession.

Giving the objectives of the meeting, the Programme Assistant of UNESCO, Hyelataina Bernard, emphasised the need for states to adopt the revised National Teacher Policy as a strategic guide for strengthening the teaching profession.

According to Bernard, some of the objectives of the policy include strengthening teacher recruitment, employment, retention and career progression, improving teacher quality through standards-based professional development, and promoting teacher motivation, welfare and professional recognition.

In their goodwill messages, Permanent Member I of ADSUBEB, Adiel Kurda; Executive Secretary of PPSMB, Penuel Birsan; Provost of the College of Education, Hong, Professor Baha Yusuf Benson; Abdullahi Yusuf; and the representative of the Provost of the Federal College of Education, Dr. Gambo Ibrahim, unanimously pledged their support for the revised policy and reaffirmed their commitment towards its implementation in the state.

Highlight of the event was the ceremonial signing of the National Teacher Policy Memorandum of Understanding by UNESCO officials and representatives of the Ministry of Education as a framework for implementation in the state’s education sector.

Wife of APC Governorship Candidate Visits Hajiya Lami Fintiri in Yola.

Her Excellency, Hajiya Dr. Lami Ahmadu Fintiri, on Sunday received the wife of the APC Governorship Candidate, Hajiya Sa’adatu Ahmad Galadima, and her delegation at J1, Government House, Yola.

Speaking during the visit, Hajiya Sa’adatu Ahmad Galadima commended Hajiya Lami Fintiri for her contributions to the development of women and vulnerable groups in Adamawa State.

She described the First Lady as a mother, mentor, and role model whose leadership style reflects compassion, patience, and dedication to humanity.

Hajiya Sa’adatu said she hopes to learn from the wealth of experience of Hajiya Lami Fintiri, particularly in the areas of women empowerment, peaceful leadership, and community service.

Earlier, while introducing the delegation, Hon. Anna Sini, also known as Anayo, described Hajiya Lami Fintiri as a humble and compassionate leader whose lifestyle continues to inspire many women across Adamawa State.

She praised the First Lady for her humanitarian services and empowerment programmes that have positively impacted lives in both urban and rural communities.

Hon. Anna added that Hajiya Lami Fintiri’s support for widows, orphans, women, and the less privileged has earned her admiration from the people, noting that many individuals have directly benefited from her kindness and initiatives.

The visit also featured discussions on unity, collaboration, and the need for women to work together for peaceful political participation and the progress of Adamawa State ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Special prayers were offered for peace, unity, and success in the journey towards the 2027 elections, with participants calling for continued cooperation and collective support for the development of the state.

The All Progressives Congress candidate for Yola North, Yola South and Girei Federal Constituency, Ahmad Salihijo Ahmad, has promised inclusive representation and grassroots development after emerging victorious in the party’s primary election ahead of the general elections.
Speaking during a press briefing in Yola on Monday, Salihijo thanked Almighty Allah, party delegates, stakeholders and APC members across the constituency for the confidence reposed in him.
He also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as strong leadership that continues to position the APC as a platform for democratic stability and governance.
Salihijo further appreciated Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for ensuring a level playing field during the primary election process, saying it strengthened confidence in internal democracy.
The APC candidate also acknowledged the contributions of National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, whom he described as a disciplined and courageous leader committed to national development.
He thanked the APC North-East National Vice Chairman, Barrister Idris Shaibu, Adamawa APC Chairman, Alhaji Hamza Bello Madagali, party executives, elders, women and youth groups for their support throughout the exercise.
Calling for unity among party members, Salihijo urged fellow aspirants and supporters to work together ahead of the elections.
According to him, the people of Yola North, Yola South and Girei deserve quality representation capable of attracting development and creating opportunities for the grassroots.
He said his experience in public service, rural electrification, infrastructure delivery and development finance has prepared him to address challenges facing the constituency.
Salihijo identified his priority areas to include energy access, job creation, youth empowerment, agriculture, education, healthcare and community development.
He also pledged to promote youth-focused programmes through digital opportunities, vocational training, entrepreneurship support and agricultural value chains.
On security and social stability, the APC candidate stressed that development and inclusion are key to strengthening peace in communities.
He assured that women, youths, farmers, traders, professionals and persons with disabilities would all be carried along in his representation.
Ahmad Salihijo Ahmad described his emergence as the beginning of greater responsibility and expressed confidence that the constituency would witness stronger growth and better representation through unity and commitment.

Galadima Assures Inclusive Governance, If Elected

Adamawa State Governorship aspirant on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC), Ahmed Tijjani Galadima, has vowed to continue with developmental strides of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.

Galadima, made the assertion while addressing campaign team, coordinators, stakeholders, party faithful, youth and women groups as well as supporters at Yobi event centre, Yola.

The governorship aspirant promise to run an inclusive governance by being fair and just to all citizens of Adamawa, assured to continue in critical sectors such as security, education and health among others initiated by Governor Fintiri.

He commended President Bola Tinubu for his purposeful leadership and lauded Governor Fintiri, for transforming the state, reiterated commitment towards building on good legacies laid by the governor.

Earlier, in his remark, the Director General Galadima Campaign Organization, Ambassador Kevin Peter, urged the electorates to support their candidature of Galadima for development and progress of the state.

Also speaking, some stakeholders from the Northern and Southern Zones, Titsi Ganama and Barrister Lilian Steven, promised to ensure his victory to enable him consolidate on Fintiri’s achievements.

Also his vote of thanks, Professor Maxwell Gidado, explained that Galadima provide good governance to the citizens.

Several speakers showered encomiums on Ahmed Tijjani Galadima and pledged to ensure his victory during the primary and the general elections.
