Dear Tailors

Especially tailors without other means of income

I'll encourage you to take online presence seriously or social media serious by all means

Facebook, YouTube, Tiktok, Whatapp status, Pinterest and other online or social media handle you can think of

There are 3 benefits of taking your tailoring work online

1.Visibility - it exposes you to more persons beyond your environment and help you gain more audience

2. You can teach tailoring online - teach people about sewing, teach people about fabrics, teach people about business side of fashion and get paid.

Or show case your work online(online showroom or online boutique).. The more you educate people about your work, the more people will love your work and patronize you.

3. You'll earn money(in dollars) online which can be a passive income or a side hustle money which you'll add or sustain your main tailoring work .

The rate at which people are learning tailoring is getting too much
Its becoming too much that we won't see Clients again as before
My clients are going to other tailors that charge lower

These are some of the complains I got from a tailor, he is worried and feel threatend.

Well, no doubt the rate at which people are learning the skill is high and hence enough competition

Well, I calmed him down by giving him the assurance that no matter how many we are Jehovah will always provide and give us our own clients

I told him to put some things in place to stand out and be afloat
✂️Be Original and creative
One things that makes you unique and stand out as a tailor is creativity and be original
✂️Be Ready to Adapt
Fashion is fast paced and one need to stay updated with trends
Take a look at most boutique, they now sell more of street or Casual wears than regular shirts and natives back then.. That's to say, they are what is trending and moving markets) So as a tailor, you need to know style that is trending and moving market
✂️Be unique
As a tailor, what's makes you unique that is different from the rest tailors?
Could it be neat sewing?
Could it be packaging?
Could it how u care and handle your clients?
Could it be your time delivery and keeping to your words? (Tailors are known to be chronic liars)
✂️Know your Target Audience
As a tailor, you are not meant to sew for everyone. You should know who to sew for and not
So if you are goof at what you do and people don't patronize you because of price then they are not meant for you.
Look for value conscious customers

✂️Work on Your visibility because tailors are too much
You must upgrade your marketing game hence you need to constantly show up online and online
Online (fb, tt, ig, x, WhatsApp status and more)
Offline (visit boutique n make deals to supply them, visit office, attend occasion and advertise)
You need to be consistent when it comes to marketing
Remember, Out of sight is out of mind.

There are other things to Put in place if you feel threatend or feel the competition is too high or feel that their are too many tailors

In all, be rest assured that Jehovah God will always provide for it's own no matter what.

One of the biggest mistake or wrong investment someone can do is to open a tailoring shop for someone to manage without your presence

It's a big risk abandoning your tailoring shop to someone and expecting excellence or making enough cash as expected

Its more worse when you have no idea, to avoid stories that touches the heart, you must stay involved and be aware. Know what's happening in every area - operations, customers experience, marketing, delivery, finance and more.

Why? because without your presence they'll use your shop and open their shop, they'll get tired, they'll cut corners and even become nonchalant, they'll keep giving you flimsy and back to back excuses and because no one will ever carry your vision with the same passion and precision as you.

Though not all are bad oh, but again leaving your shop entirely without supervision or feedback is risky because it's not their brand name, reputation or legacy on the line

If you must open one, you need to have an idea and stay close enough to make sure things run smoothly and succeed.

Most person have opened tailoring shop without being around and later regret doing so.. Some learnt it the hard way.
